About Me

I grew up in northern Alabama and went to college at Auburn University in Alabama. This is where I met my wife and formed many great friendships that are still going strong. After college I spent a year living overseas working for a non-profit engineering organization. When I got back to the States I settled into a job and life in Nashville, TN. I love Nashville, and I am enjoying the chance I have been given here to progress and learn through a career in Civil Engineering.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have gotten on Couchsurfing, because I am interested in hosting and being hosted by individuals who love to travel and connect with people who have varying life experiences and backgrounds. I really believe that many great friendships can be formed through community and collaboration with people who otherwise might not have much in common.

Interests

I love to travel, and I am currently pursuing the goal of reaching the tallest point in all 50 States. I try to get a few hiking/camping/backpacking trips in around the Southeast every year. I enjoy biking as well, but due to the recent busyness of life the extent of my biking has been reduced to commuting to and from work.

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to all sorts of music, but I can't really get into mainstream Pop or Country music. One day I can be listening to Arab music, and the next day I might be listening to heavy metal. It really just depends on what mood I am in.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Several years ago I got to go scuba diving with manta rays off the coast of Hawaii. It was amazing to see how graceful such a large and powerful creature could be in the water.

Teach, Learn, Share

The first time I connected with someone through Couchsurfing he let me help him sell vegetables at a farmer's market in his town the morning after my stay. That was the ideal situation: to get to serve and share an experience with my host.
