About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to drink coffee, to write poetry, to make friends.

ABOUT ME

I'm a student from Lethbridge, Alberta who loves to travel when he gets the chance. I love to have conversations and meet new people. When we hit it off, we'll be able to spend a whole afternoon just talking. Some of my interests include books, movies, magazines, and getting to know you and what it is you do. I edit the university student publication at my university, so I'd love to show you it and talk to you about it! I also do some research on campus about internet technologies and community. Don't get me started about that unless your ready for me to get into way too much detail!

PHILOSOPHY

If I summed it up in a catchy, quotable sentence, I think it would go something like this: "we should care for and about those near to us."

For me that means getting to know people who are around me. Expanding that social circle by going to a new place or doing a new thing is important.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Right now I'm only a surfer. But I love every experience I've had so far. Everyone I've met through surfing have been such wonderful an interesting people, each with their own things to share. I hope one day to be in a place where I can start hosting all these wonderfully interesting people!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

While I was living in France and working as an au pair, I did some traveling and started using couchsurfing.org after a friend recommended it to me

As an au pair, I got my holidays when the kids got theirs, so I would take those times to plan a little traveling around Europe. I tried hostels at first, but I quickly grew tired of the experience. Luckily, my Friend Thomas introduced me to CS, and soon I was couchsurfing while I traveled. I really loved those experiences because I got to meet so many interesting people.

I also surfed last this last year when I was visiting Montreal. Surfing always make my trips so much more positive!

It's such a great community here, and I look forward to continuing to have great experiences.

Interests

I really enjoy reading. I spend quite a lot of my time, in fact, doing just this. I particularly like taking a good book and finding a nice sunny place in a beautiful Park and having a relaxing afternoon reading.

Cooking is another big hobby of mine. It's actually really exciting for me to discover new ways of preparing food, and the cooking itself is so relaxing, especially with good company!

I also adore listening the radio. I love CBC Radio because of its interesting talk programs and documentaries.

And of course I love meeting new people and just getting to know them. We can do this anywhere, over beer or coffee, or sitting or walking in a beautiful park.

Music, Movies, and Books

My absolute favourite books are: Restlessness, by Aritha Van Herk; One Hundred Years of Solitude, by Gabriel Garcia Marquez; and In The Skin of a Lion, by Michael Ondaatje.
Some of my favourite movies, amongst many, are Lost in Translation; Synecdoche, New York; Goodbye Solo; Killer of Sheep; Elmer Gantry; Seven Samurai.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most amazing thing I've done in my life was to spend nine-months living in France and working as an au pair. Through it, I had so many varied experiences.

Teach, Learn, Share

If you're curious about writing I would love to share my process with you. I think everyone is a writer, and it's about practicing the craft and finding your voice.

I also know yo-yo tricks, so I can teach you that too!
