About Me

CURRENT MISSION

"I haven't been everywhere.... but it's on my list" -Susan Sontag

ABOUT ME

I'm a born and raised Texan that wanted to get out after college. Lucky enough to score some temp jobs in Germany, I spent a good deal of time traveling through Europe and just got back a couple months ago. I'm now living and working in Santa Barbara and wanting to meet some people in the area.

Boredom is my mortal enemy, so obviously I love staying busy and being surrounded by people. I welcome new people as warmly as I do some of my oldest and best friends.

I fill my time with a range of things. I can't get enough of the great outdoors, and choose to spend my days outside whenever the weather is somewhat-kinda-tolerable or better. I hike, bike, swim, run, or anything else that involves moving and shaking. At the same time, I like going out at night just as much as spending a nice day outside. Crazy night at a club, relaxing time with friends, or anything in between are all good nights in my book.

PHILOSOPHY

Be happy. My mom asked me when I was five what I wanted, and I said I wanted to be happy. Five year old me nailed it, and I've never strayed from that goal. I have always tried to do everything in my power to make myself and those around me happy and I think I do a rather good job of that as well.

I know there are times when conflicts arise or duties have to be preformed. I am a good, hard worker and can put my mind to anything if it needs to be done. However, as stress builds, I take a step back and see where my path is taking me and if it's where I want to go.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I hosted a lot of people last year, when I had a place to put people, but sadly none through couch surfing. They were all friends, friends of friends, or random people I met who were traveling through. I would love to get more involved with the couch surfing community, but still learning the ropes

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've always had an open door policy and many friends and somewhat-close-acquaintances have been over to crash on my couch. I've seen many states in the US and a fair share of the land-across-the-pond by crashing on random friend's couches.

Sadly, as I am new to couch surfing, I don't have any stories tied to this community. Hopefully that will change very soon.

Interests

Ultimate Frisbee. I could bore you to tears with how much I love it. You'll have to hear my half-exaggerated stories when we meet in person :P

I'm an avid video game player, and used to really enjoy some halo 2 back in the day. More recently I've thrown countless hours at Skyrim. I've often wondered how much better I'd have done in school if Bethesda didn't exist.

As said earlier, I love being outside. Be it an adventure down the beach, or a heart pounding jog through a sprawling city, I can't ever spend too much time outside.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like alternative rock and *good* dubstep. Well, *good* alternative rock as well. I have a few friends who DJ and they have come across some "dubstep" that shouldn't be used on the souls in the depths of hell. Most other music is perfectly fine with me. Just not a fan of country or rap.

Being the nerd that I am, I like sci-fy and fantasy books. Ender's game is the holy grail for me and I tried for years to get people to read A Song of Ice and Fire. Thank god HBO has a game of thrones now, so the hipster in me can brag that I read it before my friends knew about it.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Dated a girl that opened for Arcade Fire. Got to see one of their biggest shows for free and then hang out with them back stage. They love (and are very good at) ping pong.

Commentated some of the biggest Ultimate Frisbee tournaments in Europe. Like I said, I'm a little too into it :P

Teach, Learn, Share

I know ultimate frisbee like the back of my hand. Probably because most of the game involves using my hands. If you're looking to improving your game or even just wanting to see what the sport looks like, come on by and I'll introduce you to the world of ultimate frisbee.

A little out of left field, but I can give you detailed explanations of Berlin's (and a bit of Germany's) history. I was a tour guide in Berlin and had so many facts drilled into my head, I've been known to say them when I sleep. One of my biggest selling points was taking friends or soon-to-be-friends around Berlin on a free tour if they stayed with me. Can't really do that while living in SB, but if we get a few bikes, we could pretend.
