ABOUT ME

I'm kind of cool. I make art whenever I can. I'd like to start by seeing the rest of the U.S., and then the rest of the world.

PHILOSOPHY

Have goals, be motivated, be determined, never stop, and know when to kick back and simply enjoy life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

So far I've been surfing at someone else's place in Asheville, and have an open couch in New Brunswick...if you'd ever actually want to be in New Brunswick.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I was a little worried at first, but it turned out to be a lot of fun! Kept both kidneys and wallet intact, made some new friends, and now I'm convinced this is the only way to travel!

Interests

PAINTING! And that's why I'm traveling. I have a 2-week residency at the Hambidge Center for Creative Arts and Sciences in Rabun Gap, Georgia at the end of July and beginning of August. It's nice to see art, quite literally, take me somewhere, and I'm determined to keep going places. I was awarded my school's annual travel grant this year so that next year sometime I can make it out to Yellowstone.

I'm an American landscape painter, and I'm interested in how we experience the landscape, how politics and other social factors influence our experience with it, and then how paint is a way of documenting that experience and being an experience in itself.

So if this art thing doesn't work out, I'm going to open a brewpub with my two best friends. We're all very into good beer and good food, and if I ever have money I'd be willing to put it down for a venture like that.

Third resort is become a farmer, which is probably the most dreamlike of the three options. But see, brewpub that grows it's own food, buys from very local sources, supports local agriculture and economy, because it appreciates the land(scape). It's all related.

Music, Movies, and Books

CCR, the Black Keys, Lady Gaga, Die Antwoord, Fleetwood Mac. Those are a few of my top favorites. I've always liked bluegrass, but after my time in Appalachia, I've come to LOVE it. I can find something good in just about all music, and enjoy it all.

Movies? Shitty horror ones, Syfy original style, and documentaries about anything.
