The most impacting experiences of my life have been while backpacking, whether through Ecuador or Scandinavia. The kind of people you meet when you trust that everyone is inherently good are incredible. I lived for a year in Quito, Ecuador, met people from dozens of different countries and am on the daily effected by my year abroad.
