About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Trying to link myself in 7 degrees to Kevin Bacon by meeting new people.

ABOUT ME

My friends would tell you that I am very similar to Indiana Jones (being an archaeologist) except a lot funnier and slightly more personable. I really enjoy meeting new people and having good conversations with a local beer in hand. I’m extremely easy going and try and live a stress free life. My friends would probably agree that I am a super go-with-the-flow kinda guy.

PHILOSOPHY

I am a big picture not worrying about the small stuff kinda guy. I actively work to LIVE life instead of letting life happen to me.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I just moved back to Tulsa after many years being gone. I volunteer once a month at a shelter, and have applied to sit on an advisory board for our local parks system (hoping to get selected soon) Fingers crossed.

Interests

I spend as much time outdoors as possible. There are some good places to go for short day hikes or trail runs with my dog around here, so if the weather is decent, that’s where you will find me. I am not one to sit around the house, mostly due to the fact that I got rid of my TV about 2 years ago and haven’t regretted a moment of it. It's amazing how much free time you have when you don't have a TV, really... If I am at my house, I am out back in my hammock reading.

Music, Movies, and Books

Sci-fi dork but not a D&D person. Bands I listen to right now, First Aid Kit, Mumford and Sons, Avett Bro., Best Coast.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Once on an archaeological excavation, I was uncovering an earthen heart (sorta like a stove made of mud brick) from a site that was about 850 years old. Because the stove was was built of mud and then super heated, it essentially was a large brick that had held up very well over the last 8 and a half centuries. The oven was cover with human handprints from where they had slapped the mud on the stove walls. It gave me chills to place my hand inside those handprints and feel as if I was shaking hands with someone from 800 years ago.

And just yesterday I went skydiving for the first time. It wasn't really as scary as I thought it would be and amazed myself that I could actually go through with it. PS: If you haven't gone yet, you should. It's really windy though.
