My mission is to travel around the world and meet new friends!

ABOUT ME

I was born and raised in Southern California and lived there my whole life. I received my Bachelor's Degree from the University of California, Irvine (also in Southern California) and after worked my way up in a draft beer system installation company. I realized that I would have plenty of time to work for the rest of my life so in 2010 I sold, gave away, or trashed everything I owned (24 years worth of crap) and packed up my backpack with everything I had left and traveled for a year and a half! But sadly, I am back to reality and working again. Now I travel vicariously through my couch surfers!

While I was traveling I met my wife in Sweden and we have two beautiful children now and live in Huntington Beach. I am an insurance agent and my wife is a nurse but she has been off work raising our children.

I backpacked in Europe in 2006 for 6 weeks with 2 friends from home and went to 10 countries, 15 cities. Needless to say we were moving very fast because we wanted to see as much as we could. It was an amazing experience for my first real traveling adventure, but I don't want to move around that fast ever again.

In 2008 I flew to New Zealand and met up with a Kiwi/Cali friend who lives in Dunedin. We rented a car and did a 2 week road trip around the entire south island where we mostly camped in a tent on the beach. Then I flew to the north island and did the Kiwi Experience for a week which was an amazing experience where I met many good friends from around the world. After NZ I flew to Cairns, Australia and did 4 days of diving on the Great Barrier Reef. From there I went to Brisbane where I met my Kiwi friend again and we traveled down the Gold Coast surfing and having a great time.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have actively participated in hosting international visitors and surfed couches all over the world!

My favorite hosting story is when I met a German couple on an airplane when I was flying to Hawaii for work and invited them to come stay with me. They were on their way over when they crashed their car and I had to meet them and talk to the police for them. But they still made it and it was a great experience!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My first experience was with my friend in Zurich. He had visited me in Cali, so he was returning the favor. I had intended to stay one or two weeks, but I had such an amazing time I stayed for six (with his invite of course).

Now that I have got some use out of the actual site I can't say enough great things about it and the people I have met. I love telling people about it who haven't heard of it or don't know anything about couch surfing.

Now I have couch surfed all over Europe and everyone I met was an amazing person that had so much to give. These are the kind of people that I am hoping will come stay with me!

Interessi

I am interested in traveling of course. I love to meet new people and experience different cultures and ways of life. I think these are the best experiences a person can have. I also enjoy surfing, snowboarding, soccer, reading, and probably just about everything else fun in the world.

Musica, film e libri

Super Troopers, The Hangover, and Most Action Movies. Sublime, Offspring, Green Day are a few of my favorites, but I listen to all genres of music. Any book by Michael Crichton and most action or suspense novels.

Sky diving over the Franz-Joseph Glacier in New Zealand where I could see the tallest mountain, the glacier, the rain forest, and the beach all in my field of vision.

Insegna, impara, condividi

I can teach anyone about a draft beer system which nobody can understand how complicated they are without having actually installed one. I want to learn languages, but I have a difficult time with it.
