Overview
About Me
Hi there, I'm Ryan. I'm on a 3 month backpacking trip through Australia, SE Asia, and Europe. I have a couple months of backpacking experience in Europe and I'm beyond excited to be on this adventure.
I'm travelling solo and see this trip as a great opportunity to meet new people and try new things (sorry if that's too cliche lol).
ABOUT ME
Until recently, my plan was to find a better full time job in early 2017. Those plans quickly changed after a brief discussion I had with my cousin about his travels around the world. It's as if our conversation let the travel bug lose again.
A brief history about my travel experience:
Within the states,
I have been to quite a few states to visit both family and friends
Outside the county
Aside from trips with a charitable organization to Tijuana, Mexico and a cruise stop in Victoria, Canada, I had not traveled internationally until after I graduated college.
I was born to American citizens in Bad Kreuznach, Germany and I currently live in Lake Forest, California.
I have a live and let live attitude. Life is short so I feel that one of my life's duties is to reach my full potential.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Halfdome is a 16 mile hike up a granite dome in Yosemite National Park. My friend and I went on an overnight hike up the dome with headlamps and plenty of food and water. I remember it was so silent that I could hear my heartbeat. The shadows cast by the headlamps would occasionally resemble animals or shapes that looked familiar. When we finally got to the cables, the sun was just starting to rise. I remember being so exhausted as I was climbing up the cables and realizing that if I let go, I would fall about 3,000 feet into the rocks. I felt a certain determination that blocked out all my fears of falling or fainting and once we reached the top I went to sleep instantly. That hike inspired me to greater heights in other areas in my life because it showed me that I was capable of going forward, despite the pain and uncertainty.
