About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Out to meet new people and see the ceramic art of the world
ABOUT ME
I'm a 24 year old male with alot of experience surfing on friend's couches. I've never slept on a stranger's couch, but I think the experience could be great. I love making new friends and hearing other people's stories.
I am usually a potter and pottery teacher. I have taken a 10 month hiatus from clay to be a traveling volunteer in Americorps NCCC. I never know which city I'll be in a week from now.
I'm pretty quiet and I'm willing to be out of your door early. When I visit a new city, my favorite thing to do is walk for hours, checking out all of the different and diverse parts of the town.
I dig my own clay.
I teach students of all ages.
I make functional and sculptural work.
Clay is who I am. It's an integral part of my personality and my spiritual well being.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Right now I'm part of a national service program, NCCC. I'm donating 10 months of my time in exchange for the experience of a life time (and of course an education award). This program has allowed me to work in disaster relief in 4 states, including Washington DC. Unfortunately, since I'm a volunteer, I don't have much to exchange for a place to crash, although I'll happily trade labor for a couch or floor to sleep on.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've spent many a month surfing the couches of friends in my home base of Frederick, MD. I currently live on various and sundry hotel floors with my AmeriCorps NCCC team.

Music, Movies, and Books
Thus Spoke Zarathustra, Nietzche; Immortality, Milan Kundera;
I love the band CAKE. I like Tool.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
In 2012 I took a cross country road trip to see a very good friend's wedding. I loved seeing the southwest during that trip
Teach, Learn, Share
I want to learn patience. I struggle with patience more than anything else. Being in NCCC is the best and most difficult lesson in patience I've ever had. I live, work, eat, cook, travel, work out, and have fun with the same team of 8 volunteers.
I could talk for hours about clay aesthetics, firing theory, clay and glaze chemistry and structural stability in the ceramic form. Be careful, if you get me started on the subject, you may learn more about ceramics than you ever wanted to know.
