About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Running away from the heat of Texas to the west coast.
ABOUT ME
I'm very energetic and have an excess amount of enthusiasm and curiosity. Cultivating new experiences is my hobby.
I've felt the need to escape the oppression of normality that has taken many of my friends. I don't believe an unpleasant, but secure job is my answer to life. I want to find every good conversation I can lay my ears and tongue on, I want to explore the foundations of what makes each city its own city, what gives each forest its own soul, focuses my eyes on the stitches in the fabric that makes up the character of as many places and persons as I can.
PHILOSOPHY
People love to complicate the simple and simplify the complex. I try to be aware of this when I do it myself and press myself to look deeper.
I believe bad energy snowballs, but so does good energy and I aspire to keep my snowball smiling and energetic and help others do the same at every opportunity.
The golden rule gets tossed around a lot, but, well, I think it should.
I try my best to withhold judgment unless it is due to someone holding the golden rule under fire in respect to others. Equal rights for all is a step, but I believe in equal respect on a personal level that the law can't touch. Dignity is something that should never be taken from a human being.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I try to find cultures and lifestyles that are as different from mine as possible and look into merits they may have that I haven't experienced before.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Interests
I'm an avid reader, semi-avid writer. I have been dedicated to different forms of exercise from rock-climbing to yoga to tennis to beach volleyball my whole life. I'm working on ways to get myself into the alternative energy efficiency field and hope to help be a part of catalyzing it as a more mainstream movement.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The first time I went skydiving. I'd always imagined it as a more intense roller coaster. They are not to be compared. It was 98 degrees on the ground and by the time we'd arrived at jumping altitude the temperature had dropped to 54 due to altitude. Screaming wasn't an option because you're lungs were busy being obstructed by 120 mph winds.
Spending evenings on top of boulders with groups of friends, simply laying there, looking up, chatting casually but not feeling the need to fill the silence.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm very good at persuading (you could call it marketing). This is a morally neutral talent, but I like to think I use it in a positive light. I've coached multiple sports from tennis to rock climbing to futbol.
I'm very well-read in literature and philosophy (at least as far as that is possible now) and love sharing my thoughts/knowledge and hearing and learning others.
I did a dissertation on GLBTQ civil rights with a segment scrutinizing the African American civil rights movement. Not only am I passionate about this morally, but I have been a student of the history (past and present) and of the unique strategies involved in these social progressions.
I enjoy reading and writing both fiction and poetry and always enjoy giving and receiving suggestions on writing.
