About Me

Hello! My name is Ryley and I am new to couch surfing. I am a student studying Peace, Justice and Human Rights at John Carroll University In Cleveland, Ohio. I love to travel, learn new things and meet new people. I love to be active and go on adventures any chance I can get!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I will be trying Couchsurfing for the first time while doing a semester studying abroad at Udayana University in Bali. I want to couchsurf because it seems like a great way to meet new people who are open minded and share my interest for traveling. I also love the idea of staying in a home rather than a hotel so that I can truly learn about the local culture in a more personable way.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was 15 years old I started my own adventure and went on a post 9/11 program thats goal was to help bridge the gap between countries with significant Muslim populations and the United Sates after the formation of incorrect Stereotypes. This program was a 1 year one program where I lived with a family in Southern India for a year and attended a local high school. This is what started my adventurous path that made me want to be a world traveler

A year after I got back from this program I returned to India. I backpacked across Northern Indian and hiked in the Himalayas, and then visited the major holy sites through the country including the Golden Temple, The Dalai Lamas Temple, the Taj Mahal and Hindu temples in Southern India.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach:
Well I am definitely more of a learner because I am not very experienced! I know how to cook some simple dishes and can teach anybody english or the basics of Arabic, Tamil or Spanish.
Learn:
I love to learn! I would love to learn more about spirituality, local religions and traditions and any advice on where to travel to! I would also love to learn different meditation techniques, Yoga forms or learn about new foods.
Share:
I have been told I am a good story teller because my life seems to be a compilation of strange, not-so-lucky, but somehow lucky events that make every day crazy! I Also have been trying to learn the harmonica so hopefully by the time I am in indonesia I will no some good tunes to share (no promises though haha)
