ABOUT ME

I love walking and exploring new cities! I grew up constantly moving, and that gave me the travel bug. I've been in Salt Lake for seventeen years now, and am making it home base while I plan my travels. I am a morning person, I love waking up before the sun, and getting a cup of coffee, before finding a hiking trail or cute brunch spot. I love learning, and anybody who can teach me something new and cool should definitely drop a line!

I always prefer to be outside, walking in the sun with my flip flops or hiking boots, with a snack and water in my backpack, and camera in hand. If you're in salt lake and want a hiking buddy hit me up!

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've just started at CS, and while I don't have a couch, I would love to help somebody explore the beauty of Utah. I'm super excited to surf, and hope to find people who can help show me the personality of their cities.

Interests

I love the outdoors and coffee! Finding new trails is always exciting, while hiking old ones is almost more comfortable than home. A cup of coffee first thing in the morning is just the thing, and it's history is one of the most beautiful complex stories. I've just begun learning cocktailing, and I love the artistry and the drinks :P though I've never been able to stay up until the sun comes up.

I'm always learning random things, most recently was how to make my own sourdough starter.
I love learning cooking! The kitchen is one of my favorite places, and I always feel like a student in somebody else's kitchen. Italian is my favorite, while I'm currently working on learning more Indian dishes. Curry has won over my heart.

Reading: I always have a book on hand. Usually sci-fi and fantasy, it's easy for me to lose hours talking about favorite authors and books and the ideas and philosophies behind them. If you have a favorite author or book that I need to read, let me know! Poetry is something that I love, but aren't always on top of. I've most recently read a bit of Rumi, a poet from present day Afghanistan. His love poems are poignantly beautiful. I've found that I love poets from other languages, partly because learning the language opens up so many different meanings in the poem, and conveys the culture so emotionally.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love soul and big band music: Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Squirrel Nut Zippers! I'm pretty open when it comes to music though, and can get down and dance to almost anything.
I'm a sucker for artistic and action movies. I loved The King's Speech, and almost every movie Matt Damon has been in.
Books! Currently on the Game of Thrones series, after that I plan on reading the Invisible Man and the Time Machine.
