About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I have received a lot of help from fellow CS's in my traveling years, so now I want to host some fellow travelers and provide them with a home away from home when visiting Finland. I live with my boyfriend in Helsinki and our place is quite small. However, we can host 1-2 people occasionally. We both work full-time so we might not have the time to show you around, but we will try our best. Quite often we also travel back to our native city Turku for the weekend and if we get along, we can take you with us to show you the real gem of Finland.

We are only looking to host people who have recommendations (I'm sorry, maybe after some more experience as a host we can also take newbies!). Also it would be essential you get the CS idea: it's about helping a fellow traveller out and hopefully learning from each other.

ABOUT ME

I'm a laid back person with a genuine interest of the world around me. I love to meet new people, learn from them and share good times. I have traveled quite a lot during my studies but now my travels have become less frequent and more concentrated in places where I can get with a sailing boat or train.

I am a lawyer by profession and honestly think that law is one of the most interesting subjects to discuss. However, I understand that for most of the people this is not the case (such as my boyfriend, a sailor-plumber-engineer) and I do get interested in pretty much everything people are willing to share (except dreams, they never make any sense).

During my free time I like to meet up with friends, exercise and cook. I used to do a lot of volunteer work and I'm searching a new way to do this in Helsinki.

PHILOSOPHY

Love yourself.

Music, Movies, and Books

My all time favorite movie is Forrest Gump. Others that I can think of: Shawshank Redemption, the LoTR trilogy, Butterfly Effect, Intouchables, Inglorious Bastards, Ace Ventura 1 and 2, Love Actually, Crazy, Notting Hill, Goodbye Lenin.

Books: Harry Potters, the Lord of the Rings, Anna of the Green Gables, Kite Runner, to Kill A Mockingbird, the Alchemist, All the Light We Cannot See, Homo Sapiens- a Brief History of the Mankind

Music: I listen to almost anything, except hard metal, where it seems like people are just screaming. It's horrible. My feel-good music is mostly indie rock, country, reggae and Finnish rap. Music for me is more for the atmosphere, although some bands really get me with their lyrics as well. These would include Bastille, a Finnish band Scandinavian Music Group and Calle 13 from Puerto Rico.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Lived a year in France when I was 17, learned a new language and a thing or two about myself and the world.

Lived another year in Chile whilst in university. Learned another new language and a few extra things about myself and life.

Graduated from law school whilst living and traveling in a VW bus up the West Coast of the US and A. You can see more about my experience in a few episodes of this YouTube travel serie Kombi Life - Hasta Alaska (more precisley season 4 episodes 9 through 11).

Teach, Learn, Share

Thanks to my years as a scout, I'm quite handy in all kind of survival stuff, so I can also teach you to make a fire, make food outside, first aid etc.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Loads of stories of my experiences living abroad and Finland. I've got one of those pretty weird families, which is a constant source of amusement. I'm also a bit like selfmade Mr. Beans, crazy stuff just happen to me a lot.
