About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Living my adult life and figuring out the world :-)

ABOUT ME

Since I was young I allways wanted to go abroad. I start working as a kids entertainer on a campsite when I was 18 years. First in Austria, later in France and Italy. I met lots of nice people here from all over Europe and it was great! A few years later I went to Curacao to do a little research. It was great to live and work here and get used to the 'manjana manjana' culture! I graduated and worked a few years in the same school, but I always kept the feeling that I wanted to go abroad again. So that's why I worked as a volunteer in Indonesia for the last 2 years. I worked in a special needs school + 2 dormitories. I tried to include children with disabilities in the "normal" society and help the teachers with the disability program. It was not always easy, but it's so nice to meet new people and learn from other cultures.....
In Nov 2012 I moved to Kampala and South Sudan to look for a job. After 7 months in Africa I realized I want to be in Indonesia, so I went back for one year.
I lived in Bali and was working for VSO Indonesia as Recruitment Manager.

Since July 2013 I came back to The Netherlands and moved in with my boyfriend. We live together in Utrecht now for 2 years.

About what kind of a person I am:
Social contacts are very important to me. So sharing time with old and new friends is a big hobby!
I like my job, teaching/ training people and help them growing a little gives a good feeling.

PHILOSOPHY

I know that life can be short, so I want to enjoy as much as I can!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

A friend of mine told me about this project. I think it's definitely a good way to make your trips more special. People can help each other and that's a great idea!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I went to Tanzania a few years ago and traveled mostly in the south. I went to a tiny little village without any electricity, so no computer, no tv, no lights, just the basic life! The kids were playing the whole day and everybody seems to be very happy. I realized here that this is what it's all about! The people there didn't see white people a lot, so one day I went to visit a school, when the kids saw me they all start shouting, touching me and kissing my foot. Real weird and emotional feeling....
