About Me

“Not Christian or Jew or Muslim, not Hindu, Buddhist, Sufi or Zen. Not any religion or cultural system. I am not of the East, nor of the West. . . .My place is placeless, a trace of the traceless.” -Rumi

In love with these words, but for the records, I own a Pakistani Passport 🇵🇰😉

Lived in, hands down, one of the most beautiful cities of the World- Antalya 🇹🇷 for 5 years for studies, graduated in 2020 (yep one of those poor covid graduates who never had a convocation 😅😷)

Came to Tallinn 🇪🇪 in 2021 for my Erasmus internship and fell in love with this town and the sunsets it offers 🌇 and decided to make it my new home.

Did my earlier Erasmus in Poland 🇵🇱 in 2017, another country that has a special place in my heart!

Ok there are a lot of other countries that have special place in my heart, can't write all here, but... Sri lanka🇱🇰
and Ukraine 🇺🇦 need a mention 😀

Why did I leave my home country - mainly for my love for traveling
Didn't want to wait till finding a good job, saving, retiring and (dying) and then traveling. Because "kal ho na ho" - tomorrow may never come 🙂

Traveling for me has been the best teacher, It certainly broadened my mental horizons.
Living in different cultures increased my flexibility and boosted my sense of cross-cultural understanding. I have realized the worth of apparently small things in my life and thus have become a happy positive person. Not only did I earn friends from across the globe, but also an ability to see things from different perspectives.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Why not!! I have explained earlier about my passion for traveling. Couchsurfing introduced me to the most amazing people, (and continues doing so) 😊

Most of the people who using CS have the same interests and a common goal of traveling and meeting new people. So what can be better than this? As they say "Birds of a Feather Flock Together".

Music, Movies, and Books

My music collection is actually very diverse. It all depends upon my mood, sometimes I like to listen to Urdu/Hindi songs, sometimes English. If I have to name a few, I'll say Imagine Dragons, Coldplay, and The Script because along with the music, their lyrics are amazing and sometimes define my thinking. My Other favorites are Strings, Noori, Atif Aslam, Farhan Saeed(all of them are Pakistani).
Arijit Singh, our neighbor 🇮🇳 has got some amazing vocals too 😀

I watch almost all genres of movies as well, but most of the time I prefer adventure/mystery, action/crime or horror.
Some of my ever favorites are The Shawshank Redemption, Blood Diamond, National Treasure, Divergent Series, Now you see me, Slumdog Millionaire, 3 Idiots, The Godfather and there are many more actually.
My favorite writer is Paulo Coelho. The Alchemist and The fifth Mountain are among my favorites. I am also fond of the work of Khaled Hosseini and Murakami. I often enjoy autobiographies as well.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most amazing thing I've done and still do sometimes, well I travel alone. I remember once I was travelling alone inside Turkey, I was in this city called Afyon where there is a castle at the top of a mountain/hill. It requires climbing more than 800 stairs. The day I went to climb it, the weather got really bad, it was a harsh thunderstorm and no one around at all. But I continued, by the time I reached the top the rain had stopped although it was still terribly windy. And I felt for a moment as I was at the top of the world. I actually sang and screamed out of joy there. Should have videos somewhere...

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: some basic phrases of the languages I know, how to travel on a budget
Learn: Anything and Everything you would like to share from your life experiences
Share: Travel Stories, and since I studied on a scholarship and I am very active in social activities as well, I can share information on where to look for such opportunities.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Well, I have experience of living (and traveling) in different countries. Therefore I have so many interesting stories and adventures to share. I can even guide you about the places I have been to. I am not a very skilled cook, but I can share the cuisine of countries I have lived in.

Above everything, I believe I can share with them the most beautiful relationship in the world that is Friendship. I can show them an image of life and a world, that may be different from theirs. And yes I know multiple languages and multiple cultures, I can teach some basic phrases from the languages I know, the traditional dances, festivals, rituals, and can introduce them to a new world of music. Plus, I almost always carry spare Pakistani currency notes with me, in case you are interested :)
