Hi there! :)

I'm Sabine, currently based in Berlin.

I studied Social Work, currently working in a feminist project that is supporting women that suffer from domestic violence to find a new and safe appartment within Berlin (which is tough if you look at the lack of affordable housing in this city!)

Furthermore, I recently started teaching German in so-called integration courses for adult migrants and refugees in Germany.

I am learning Levantine Arabic (although it's a tough one! :D) and am very interested in Arabic language and the Middle East. 2022 I spent 2 months in Jordan and really enjoyed my time there. 2023 I spent some time in Lebanon. I think my interest came through Syrian friends here in Berlin.

The past years I got into solo-traveling (and mainly using couchsurfing when I'm on my own). I think I'm more likely to get to know new people when solo-traveling and it's also some sort of personal challenge I'd like to give myself :)

I like sports and an active lifestyle. I'm into HIIT, crossfit, cycling, running, boxing, hiking.

I also enjoy Berlin for its Techno culture and love a good rave with the right vibes.

I like to be social and hang out with friends or getting to know new people.
However I would place myself more on the introverted range or maybe some sort of ambivert. So by spending time alone I can recharge my batteries :)

I'm interested in politics however currently not as political active as I would like to be (apart from attending protests or going to lectures). Topics I'm following: migration and asylum policies, antiracism, feminism, lgbtiq+-rights, social housing, mental health ...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'd like to travel in a non-touristic way, get to know locals and get a feeling of how daily life's like in other places and countries. I like to share travel and life experiences and open my view for new perspectives.
So the social experience is what values for me. As well as being spontaneous. I don't like travelling with too many plans in advance and list of places and things 'to do'. I prefer getting advice from locals and do what I feel like doing in that moment.

I am glad about the encounters I had so far via couchsurfing and the generosity I experienced!
