About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Just living one day at a time

ABOUT ME

So in the past year (and a bit...) I haven't lived/stayed in one place for more than a few weeks and I LOVE it! I thrive on the feeling of not knowing where I will be in the next week. That my path is a complete and utter mystery. Who knows where I'll be? Who knows who I will meet, and the memories we might make together.

In the last year I left the comfort of my rural Wisconsin home to roam through the west. I landed in Boulder, Co for a couple of weeks and then I spent two weeks rafting on the Green River last August. A week later I found myself driving to San Diego to start an 11 week adventure in the back country of Baja Mexico with 15 other adventurous students. I'm very passionate about the outdoors, and want to explore and improve various skills.

After returning to the states, I was having some adjustment issues with staying in one place again and knew I had to start traveling ASAP!!! And now here I am! I will be touring the US exploring what I can. I'm hoping to travel through out the south/southeast, that being the only part of the country I really haven't experienced before. I'm also hoping to hop over to the Pacific Northwest eventually.

I am very easy going, laid back, and simply love to have a good time. At first I can be shy but that typically goes away pretty fast. I like to think I have a good sense of humor, and being spontaneous is my specialty. I like to get out there and make memories. I enjoy telling others some of my stories, but especially enjoy hearing others share what they have done. Listening to other people's journeys and paths in life is what really inspires me to do what I do.

PHILOSOPHY

So my favorite teacher last year as a gift gave me this book and when she first presented it I'll be honest I was a bit confused. It was "The places you'll go" by Dr. Suess. But after reading it a couple of times I was so thrilled that finally I felt like an adult truly understood what I was feeling and trying to say.

In high school there was all this pressure of "what college are you going to, what are you going to study, and what do you want to do with the rest of your life?" I was constantly saying "I don't know, I just want to go out there and see the world." And for some reason the guidance counselor tried to convince me that that was wrong. So it wasn't until this teacher presented this book to me that I finally felt heard by someone. That someone approved of my choice of not going to college right away, and to take the time to find myself, and gain what I can from where I go and the people I might meet.

I strongly believe that not enough young adults are given the opportunity to truly "find themselves". They are thrusted into this system. And for some the system works but I believe everyone should be given the option to stop, take a few deep breaths, and see what traveling has to offer. And with that said, "Oh the places you'll go, today is your day, your mountain is waiting, so get on your way!"

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Simply surfing at this point, don't really have a place right now to host.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I love it! My experiences with CS have been spectacular. Met some awesome people - surfers and hosts - will have memories I will never forget. I don't know where I would be without CS.

Interests

My favorite thing is to go where I've never been before. I love exploring and seeing what I can find.

I've always had an interest in art. I've played around with a lot with painting (watercolor and oil on canvas mostly) and sculpting. I used to draw a lot and I should start up again, hopefully soon.

I also enjoy getting out and about. I'm not a huge partier but enjoy the nightlife when the time is right. I just love having fun and laughing a ton. But then there are also times all I want to do is curl up, eat popcorn, and watch bad television shows all night. Just all depends.

I also enjoy backpacking, rafting, sea kayaking, climbing (though I haven't had much experience) etc. Music is also a big part of my life. Concerts are always fun, so I'm hoping to have a special concert/festival fund with me as I travel.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music - All kinds! Im not picky I love all types of music. It just all depends on the time and place and what I'm doing.
Books - Pillars of the Earth, Lord of the Rings, Hobbit, Hunger Games, Edward Abbey!!!!!!, honestly the list could go on.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Man, I don't know. I've done some awesomely crazy things, I've done some I guess amazing things, and I've done a lot of stupid things. But I'll let you be the judge when we share stories.
