ABOUT ME

I'm a 20 year old girl from Holland, studied studying Japanese in Belgium and now on exchange in Japan . Traveling is one of my passions and at the same time also one of my dreams (going to places haven't been before & doing things I haven't done before). Besides studying I usually meet with friends, go out and watch drama's when I find the time.

I love different cultures & talking with people from other cultures!
I'm especially interested in Asia and have penpals all over Asia :)
Exchanging letters is really fun, a nice way to learn about other people, countries & cultures and a good way to bond with someone even though you can't meet.

I am what I like to call an 'in between traveler'. I like to go on city trips and see a lot of things, walking around most of the time and usually have a busy day from morning till evening, usually planned by myself. From time to time I like to do something more active, but not too often and not too extreme, it is vacation for me after all ;) Then there is a part of me that likes to go somewhere just for the beach and do nothing all day, be lazy and rest. I am the happiest just sitting somewhere enjoying the view and watching people pass by for a while and then walking around seeing what the place has to offer, preferably away from the tourists and amongst the locals. And yes, seeing places like the acropolis, colosseum and kiyomizu-dera in real life are some of the most memorable moments in my life even though they are cliche and overcrowded. I hate crowds and tour groups, but it is worth all the amazing things I have seen so far.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I would absolutely love to be host!
It would be great to meet people from all around the world & show them around.

And of course I would kindly ask to hosts around the world to lend me their couch for a few days when I want to come :)
I would love to experience local culture & meet local people and do what they do. Finding the insiders' places and doing the things that tourists won't do. Okay, I might not be that adventurous (no eating insects for me), but I would love to experience local culture as much as I can!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have only hosted one person before, but it was a nice experience.
During my travel in South Korea I have couch surfed in several places and it made my trip in Korea the best one I've had so far because I couldn't have asked for sweeter hosts. So I plan on continuing hosting and surfing from now on ! :)
