About Me

CURRENT MISSION

My mission is to work hard, travel often, and explore new cultures through food, drink and wandering.

ABOUT ME

I work for a non-profit social services agency and reside in Sacramento. Although I studied international relations and cultures in college, I want to work hard to improve the lives of those in my home town.

Aside from work... I aspire to travel the world! (IF i had unlimited funding...) I guess I am a "foodie" - some of my favorite new experiences include trying new food and restaurants. When traveling, food is one of my favorite ways to explore culture.

I am usually outgoing but not a super social butterfly. My ideal gathering is at home with a small group of good friends with really yummy food, good beer, and amazing music (maybe a mini dance party).

I'm traveling with my husband, Chris. He works for the railroad, enjoys good food and beverage, working on his volkswagen, building things, art and more. I like to think we're a laid back, happy and casual couple.

PHILOSOPHY

I think that one's quality of life depends on gaining new experience and perspective by traveling, getting to know people, asking questions, observing and listening. I think people become nicer, kinder, and more understanding the more new experiences that they have!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

A friend told me about her couch surfing experiences, which prompted me to check it out. Hubby and I are traveling to Argentina in May 2013 and excited about the possibility to connect with locals and make new friends during our trip.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None yet, but hoping to "surf" in Argentina in May 2013

Interests

Outside of work, my passion continues to be travel (domestic and international), exploring different cultures, food, people, languages, history, nature... and much more. My husband and I are easygoing and adventurous budget travelers. Our travel style is to ride the city bus, talk to locals for directions, ask for advice from strangers about where to go/where to eat, see live music, visit local dive bars...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In college, I lived in Costa Rica as a foreign-exchange student for six months, which completely shifted my world view and instilled a love of the Spanish language and it's intricacies, tropical temperatures, rice & beans (gallo pinto), and all things Central American.

Teach, Learn, Share

I enjoy meeting people that will help me practice speaking Spanish (and hopefully improve my Spanish)!
