About Me

CURRENT MISSION

S: Live a wonderful life! Teach and learn, grow and encourage, breathe and be. Find more balance. I love to try out new things and as a Waldorf teacher I've gotten to try my hand at a whole range of new skills such as blacksmithing, basket-weaving, goose-feather-cleaning + quill-making, bookbinding, etc. I look forward to adding even more to the list!

Also, we love to travel + wander, discovering little fascinating things off the beaten path.

ABOUT ME

We are an American and a German-turned-Canadian living in Germany and loving it! I (Sara) am a Waldorf teacher and will be starting my second round of 5th grade in the fall. I love reading, music, painting, being in nature and hanging out with my husband :).

Frederik teaches English and other courses to prospective English teachers at the local (northern German) university.

Our duo turned into a trio a few years ago + we are alternately amused, exhausted and amazed by our little one ;), who is also bilingual and loves to play, build, read and sing (including making up new lyrics to songs!) Parenthood is quite the adventure!

PHILOSOPHY

S: Life is good, hard but generally good. Gratitude can do a lot, as can smiling :)

F: BANANA! :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

(S) I've been couchsurfing all over Europe with my family--it was amazing! We were traveling with 2 adults and 4 children and you'd be amazed at the places we managed to squeeze into. It was wonderful. The most amusing squeeze was in this tiny little flat in Wimbledon..we managed to sprawl on the couches, behind them, beside them...and we only barely managed to leave our hosts a 6-inch path to get to their kitchen in the morning :) But they were good hosts and wonderful sports about it.

We also met amazing people in the Highlands of Scotland, who lived in a remodeled old stone schoolhouse, in Belgium, who lived in a beautiful house and made us amazing food, in Berlin, who played great music and with whom we had fun singing and jamming, etc. Such a great group of people!

Now as an adult, I/we've been couchsurfing a few times and hosted a bit and look forward to doing both more in the future!
