Hello. :)

My name is Saga. I'm a 30 year old dancing nerd who loves hanging out with people, dancing, playing games, dancing, watching movies, dancing, eating ice cream, dancing, and a lot of other things.
Did I mention dancing?
Yeah, I'm completely sold about this 40s swingdance called Lindy hop, and I've been dancing actively for a bunch of years (tried it 2011, went on and off for a while, but I've been dancing actively since 2014).
It's a dance I can relate to a lot because of it's cheerful and playful attitude, it's nonconforming style of improvisation and just having fun without enforcing strict rules about foot placements, gender stereotypes, directions, etc, it's more about just having fun, playing around, spreading joy and thinking outside the box.
I also aspire to become a teacher in lindy hop eventually, and have at least so far held a small number of workshops in how to switch lead/follow roles midsong and also a beginner workshop, sooo I'm getting there at least! :)

Good to know, I'm a shy extrovert with a high social need. Which basically means that I enjoy being around people and I love meeting both new and old friends and others, and I refill my batteries by socializing.
However, at the same time I'm a shy person, so I might not dare to say things at first, and I might come of as introverted or similar at first, but once you open up to me I'll open up in no time! :)

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'd love to meet up downtown to hang out, talk, get to know each others and share experiences, and I can probably show you around some places here in Uppsala.
But I am sadly not currently Hosting, because my apartment just is is way too much turmoil and in need of way to much work for that at the moment, plus social welfare, combined with several mental health issues (adhd, genderdysphoria, depression and anxiety) usually leaves my own apartment in a mess and barely any money to do things, buuuut I'm working on that as good as I possibly can at the moment, and as soon as I get at least the apartment fixed (will get help with that because of how much it is) I'll be able to share a sofa in the living room!

About myself surfing... I'm going to be honest here. I want to see the world, and I want to meet new people!
...but most of all... I'm very very low on cash (social welfare yo!) so I can never really afford living in hotels and hostels when traveling around. Soooo my friends adviced me to become a member here, and so I did! :)

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I listen to a lot of different types of music. But instead of mentioning all of them I'll just pick the most listened genres.
Swing, Charleston, Electroswing, Electronic Hardcore, Psytrance, Death Metal, Kpop... and a lot more.

Movies (& series): My favorite kind goes into the nerdy category.
Star Wars, Marvel Cinematic Universe, Steven Universe, Doctor Who, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, and similar.
Buuuut I also REALLY love The Fountain, and The Killing of a Sacred Deer.

Books:
When I manage to read books it's mostly novels from the Star Wars, Warcraft, Magic the Gathering and similar universes, buuuut because of my ADHD I have a hard time sitting down to read, I get way to restless, so I don't read very often. But I do want to, I have several books at home just waiting for me to be read.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Started dancing, taught dance classes, taken classes from really big names in the lindy scene, including Chester Whitmore. Also casually hanged out with Chester for about a week during Gäddede Lindy Hop Festival 2018, that was fun! :)

Also released a self-titled EP with 3 tracks in summer 2018 with Project Garm, a dark ambient music project I do with a friend.
We are currently working on an album. (You can find us on Spotify, Soundcloud, Bandcamp, iTunes, Instagram, Facebook, etcetera.)

Teach, Learn, Share

What I can teach you would be... well, things I'm good at, which for instance would be dancing the Lindy hop, I can even teach you both the follower and/or leader steps since I do both, including techniques for switching role midsong and also "stealing" techniques for those dances when you go in and dance more than 2 during the song, for instance when someone has their birthday and gets to dance with several people during the same song.

Other than that we will probably learn things from each others in general just by hanging out and figuring out what we can and can't do.

What I Can Share with Hosts

A happy face and lots of colors (I'm usually with green hair and colorful clothes).
We can share cultures and interests with each others, and if you are in Uppsala I can show you around town.

While I can show you some typical Swedish things, bear in mind that No, I will not show you Surströmming!
That abominable thing is a horrible food-thing that will never enter my apartment. :P
