Hi! I'm a very friendly and open person :) I like to learn about other cultures and perspectives. I also love to eat! I am born in Toronto, Canada and I have grown up here for most of my life. My family is from India, so I grew up with two cultures in my life, speaking both English and Urdu.

I am currently working on my thesis for my Master's degree in South Asian History and Persian Literature at McGill University. I love to learn different languages because I consider them important tools in exploring other cultures and interacting with people, watching films, and reading literature. I have a Bachelor's degree in French Linguistics & Pedagogy and Middle Eastern Studies from the University of Toronto also. I speak English, French, and Urdu fluently. I speak Spanish and Persian at an advanced level. I also speak Arabic at an intermediate level. My goal in life is to always continue learning more languages and to keep travelling.

I love to eat as mentioned earlier and this is one of my passions and reasons for travelling also. I will try anything and everything at least once. I also enjoy cooking, but my expertise is in Indian cuisine.

I am open to sharing whatever I can with you, whether that may be my knowledge of languages, Canada, Middle Eastern History, South Asian History, South Asian Cuisine, or anything else you may like.

¡Hola! Soy una persona muy amigable y abierta :) Me gusta aprender sobre otras culturas y perspectivas. ¡Me gusta comer también! Nací en Toronto, Canadá y crecí allí la mayor parte de mi vida. Mi familia es de India, así que crecí con dos culturas en mi vida, hablando inglés y urdu.

Actualmente, estoy escribiendo mi tesis por mi maestría en historia del sur de Asia y literatura persa en la Universidad McGill. Me encanta aprender diferentes idiomas porque los considero herramientas importantes para explorar otras culturas e interactuar con personas, ver películas y leer literatura. Tengo una Licenciatura en Lingüística y Pedagogía Francesa y Estudios del Medio Oriente de la Universidad de Toronto también. Hablo inglés, francés y urdu con fluidez. Hablo español y persa a un nivel avanzado. También hablo árabe a un nivel intermedio. Mi objetivo en la vida es continuar aprendiendo más idiomas y seguir viajando.

Me encanta comer como se mencionó anteriormente y esta es una de mis pasiones y razones para viajar también. Probaré cualquier cosa al menos una vez. También me gusta cocinar, pero mi experiencia es en la cocina india.

Estoy dispuesto a compartir todo lo que pueda contigo, ya sea mi conocimiento de idiomas, Historia del Medio Oriente de Canadá, Historia del sur de Asia, Cocina del sur de Asia, o cualquier otra cosa que te pueda gustar.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I really like the idea behind couchsurfing and the way it circumvents our money hungry society to bring people together in a creative way that will create memorable moments and unique experiences.

I am here to meet cool people, learn about other cultures/perspectives, gain more knowledge/skills, and share my own culture/perspectives/knowledge/skills.

I want to improve who I am as a human being, always strive towards being a better host, and help people have unique experiences that they will enjoy and hopefully remember.

I've seen the oldest Mosque in Africa in a town in Tunisia, it may seem unremarkable, but the journey to get there was rocky haha, you can ask me more about it if we meet up :)

I can teach you English, French, or Urdu. I also speak Spanish and Persian. My Arabic is at an intermediate level. I can teach you about Indian Cuisine or Middle Eastern/South Asian History. If you're into dancing I can also show you a bit of Montréal nightlife as I love to dance!
