About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To live with an open heart and awakened mind and to live passionately while embracing a humorous attitude.
ABOUT ME
The liberal attitudes I developed during the 60's in California have stayed with me. Peace, love and compassion are still the seeds which I nurture. Experiencing other cultures and countries still provides me with the greatest joy and education. Eating healthy, staying physically fit, and taking chances are essential ingredients to my happiness. I am divorced with two lovely children (grown). My son is married and working in San Francisco and my daughter is married with a 8 year old girl and a 3 year old boy. She and her family live nearby.
PHILOSOPHY
I give thanks for this precious gift of life and do my best to live it fully each day. My intention is to treat others as I would have them to treat me. I believe that our daily decisions are based either in love or fear. Growing toward the light rather than fear and sharing that light with others is my deepest intention.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Although I treasure my solitude, I have always opened my house to other's in need. I have a couple of extra spare bedrooms upstairs.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have had the honor and pleasure of sharing other people's homes during my travels for years, so it is only fitting that I share mine with others.
Interests
Hiking in the local forests, swimming laps and soaking in the hot springs in my town. I enjoy playing blues, rock and jazz (harmonica and African drum) with other musicians. I love good wine and ethnic foods. I am fascinated with almost anything Asian and live half of each year in South East Asia.

Music, Movies, and Books
Books concerning spiritual awakening hold the greatest interest for me..."The Prophet" by Gibran, Eckhart Tolle "A New Earth" Miguel Ruiz "The Four Agreements;" Thich Nhat Hanh (Meditation) "Saint Francis" by Kazantzakis, Krishnamurti's teachings, "Botany of Desire," Pollan, "Life and Death in Shanghai" Nien Cheng, "A River Sutra" Gita Mehta, "Letters to a Young Poet" Rilke,"In Search of the Miraculous" Ouspensky, "Meetings With Remarkable Men" Gurdjieff, "The Path to Love" Chopra, "The Catcher in the Rye" J.D. Salinger, "Siddhartha" Hermann Hesse, "Jonathan Livingston Seagull" Richard Bach, "On the Road" Kerouac, "Awareness" Anthony de Mello, "Paradise of the Blind" Duong Thu Huong, "Waking up Together" Paul Ferrini, poems by Rumi and so many more. I also read some travel books occasionally.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I have seen the Taj Majal, Ankor Wat, the Grand Canyon, children laughing and splashing on a beach, the smile in a baby's eye, the innocense of a puppy or kitten at play, an ice cream cone in a child's sticky hand, and I've heard the song of birds greeting the sunrise. I have watched fear shrink away as I looked it in the eye.
