ABOUT ME

I just moved to the East Valley of Phoenix. I'm still getting used to being in Arizona, but so far I really enjoy it. I even found a boat job! (I'd been a boat captain in DC for the last 5 years and thought I'd be giving that up when I moved out here) I'm really looking forward to meeting new people, so if you're passing through or local, I'm up for getting together.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

i couchsurfed when i was backpacking around the UK, ireland and iceland. it was fantastic, and im SO glad i found out about it! Second round of surfing around Nicaragua and Costa Rica equally phenomenal.

Interests

Im obsessed with anything maritime... i'm an avid sailor, everything from a sunfish to schooners to a full rigged square sailing ship. I love camping, kayaking, reading anything i can get my hands on, etc etc etc

Music, Movies, and Books

I love country and celtic folk music, my favorite bands are Great Big Sea, The Paperboys (they're from vancouver), FLogging Molly, ok theres not enough space to list all this stuff... i love romantic comedies, get freaked out by horror films, and hate Arnold Schwarzenegger *spelling?

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I'm working on writing a book that documents the stories of homeless veterans. I was friends with a few really good men back home and enjoyed getting to know them. They inspired me to tell their stories, because most people just see right through them.

I think that sailing into New York City on the anniversary of September 11th with the 'sail for solstice' was amazing. there were hundreds and hundreds of boats there, and the total clash of 18th century Tall Ship under sail surrounded by sky scrapers and the bustle of they city was just fascinating
