Music, Movies, and Books
Uhm... the film I can watch over and over and never tire of is probably Casablanca. And Lost in Translation. The film that, everytime I watch it, I don't feel time passing is Almost Famous. The film I will probably never watch again, because I don't want to spoil the feeling I got when I watched it for the first time, is Life is Beautiful. The film I can quote by heart is Pulp Fiction. And Juno. The film I wish never ended is Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. The first film I ever watched was Star Wars.
In terms of music, a friend asked me not long ago which among my favourite bands I had yet to see live. I wracked my brain and listed The Clash, Ramones, Sex Pistols, Nirvana, The Doors, The Smiths, The Runaways; only to realise what they have in common: they're either separated, or the members are dead. Bummer. But you have to work with what you've got, so in the past months I've attended concerts by Muse, Jónsi, She & Him, Arctic Monkeys, Muse (yep, twice, they're that good), Death Cab for Cutie, Belle & Sebastian, Beck, Franz Ferdinand and Foo Fighters.
Talking about books, my old Screenwriting professor asked in class one day how many of us had already read War and Peace. When nobody raised their hand, he remarked how lucky we were, because we still had the pleasure of reading it for the first time ahead of us. I made the decision of waiting til the right time came around to read that book. So in the meantime, and while I mourn for the fact that there will be no more Harry Potter (yes, get over it) or Hunger Games books (what did I just say?), I've kept busy with 1984, Chronicle of a Death Foretold, Tropic of Cancer, To the Lighthouse, Wuthering Heights, Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man, The Bell Jar, Factotum and everything JD Salinger ever wrote.
