Overview
About Me
On a basic level, I'm a biologist and ecological economist working on sustainability projects in Barcelona. I initially moved to Spain to teach English in 2016, then fell in love with the country and been working ever since to stay there.
I'm not great at describing myself-- meeting me will do that a lot better-- but I would say I'm easy going, goofy, and curious, whether it's learning about a new friend's interests or how the universe was created.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Like most couchsurfers, I love to travel and meet the incredible people that make each city what it is and learn about their experiences and perspectives.
I also LOVE food-- both cooking and eating-- and look forward to learning about local cuisine from couch surfers, whether it means cooking it together or dining out at one of our favorite places :) Food is one of those incredible connectors and some of my best experiences traveling and at home with friends have been just relaxing and talking over delicious food and a glass (or bottle) of wine.
Interests
My interests vary far and wide but to name a few:
Eating/cooking, dancing (though I don't have much rhythm), hiking and the outdoors in general, science-- particularly environmental-- TEDtalks, politics, art, checking out concerts of all types.
Music, Movies, and Books
Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Byrds, Bruce Springsteen, the Strokes, Tom Petty, Neil Young, Alt-J, Glass Animals, Sylvan Esso, St. Vincent, the Black Keys, Flume, Foals, Neil Young, Mark Knopfler... I'm always listening to something though I often have a challenging time remembering the song name or artist.
"The Martian," "Auntie Mame," "Still Life of Woodpecker," "Pride & Prejudice"... Currently reading "The Invention of Nature," by Andrea Wulf, about Alexander Humboldt, perhaps one of the greatest scientist who ever lived.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Backpacking part of el camino de Ronda, wild camping in Spain.
Spent 6 months working for Slow Food USA
