About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To visit my daughter who is living in South Korea and go to Japan when she has a week off at the end of July. I am also learning Vietnamese as I want to work in Vietnam with the Australian Volunteer International Program as a Nurse.

ABOUT ME

Hi my name is Sally and I live in Australia.

I have 3 beautiful children- all grown up now- Penny nearly 22, Nick nearly 20 & Andrew nearly 17.
My daughter Penny is living in South Korea teaching English and I am going over there in July to visit her for 3 weeks and we would like to travel to Japan for one week, as she has one week off at the end of July.

I am also a Registered Nurse and work in General Practice (Doctors Surgery) for 3 doctors which is very busy!
I am currently learning Vietnamese so I can go over there to work as a volunteer from Australia - hopefully it will be next year when my youngest is on his feet.

PHILOSOPHY

My personal philosophy?
Would have to be first to see my children grow into adults and have survived the hard Western Culture (peer pressure etc) - which they have and I am very proud of them!
Secondly I love to help people - thus as a Nurse I want to use the skills I have been fortunate to obtain and work overseas in third world countries to help improve their Health System:)
I love this saying by Helen Keller: "Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much".

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have only just joined as my daughter is on here and I am going over to see her in July.
When I get back to Australia I am more than happy to update my profile and become a host.
In the mean time if you are in Newcastle and would like to be shown around I am more than happy to do so.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have had none- but my daughter who is on here had her first couching experience in Turkey and spoke highly of it.
I had never heard of it before and my daughter told me to join. From what I have read so far about people's experiences on here it sounds amazing and a great way to meet people from other cultures.
I am looking forward to experiencing my first Couch Surfing experience with my daughter and I am already thinking about what gift I would bring from Australia!

Interests

Nursing of course as it is my passion! I love my job and enjoy going to work every day.
I love to help people -(guess that is the nursing in me)and want to go over to Vietnam to work, which I hope will be next year.
I also like to read biographies from all countries- as I feel if I am going to read I would like to learn something as I read.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love a good romantic movie as well as a comedy - for Australians on here- I just love Kath & Kim (you have to be an Aussie to really apprecitate it as they are kind of taking us off BIG time!!)
- for you in the UK- Absolutely Fabulous!!! (I find it hysterical... and no Penny and I don't have that mother/daughter relationship lol!!)

Also I do like a great thriller, especially one with a twist at the end.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I would say the most amazing thing I have done(not a pleasant experience)- I cut down someone that hung himself and resuscitated him.
On a pleasant note: Given birth to 3 amazing children!!

Teach, Learn, Share

The Australian "Lingo" is soo different from the English Language you are taught- we seem to have so many slang words for everything - so if you need translation I can help!!!- and no we don't have kangaroos hopping down the main streets.
So please ask me:)

Learn - anything - I am a sponge for other cultures. I love people!

Countries I’ve Visited
