Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've hosted many worldwide friends, although not all were through CS. I am relatively busy with "friends of friends" coming by and staying with me.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

One guest came to our summer place in Jackson, WY. We shared an interest in photography, so went to Yellowstone National Park and Grand Teton Nat'l Park together.
I met up with my sister who lives in Ireland, and we visited Florence Italy. We joined a CS social event. I had not expected so many to be there. It was a great way to meet new people in Italy.

Interests

I am active in fishing, hiking, biking, water sports and fishing. Did I say I like to fish? I LOVE to fish. I'm a dietitian nutritionist, a retired healthcare exec. & I have sold an internet business in the shared economy like Airbnb.
I'm "semi retired" to Hawaii, although I travel for a lot of the year, mostly to fish and ride my bike.
I enjoy reading and sharing discussions on books. I can be a host of tremendous help as you visit for the first time, or leave you to yourself (with great coffee & tea & snacks) if you like the quiet time.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like historical biographies, books on Buddhism, and only saw one movie (about Frank Zappa) in the past 5 years. I read a LOT, and like a variety of different book genres. If anyone ever recommends a book, I try to read it. THat gives me an insight into other people, plus I learn new things about myself.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Seeing India. The smiling faces of so many was inspiring, as was learning that one could live with so much less than what we tend to have in the USA.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am a registered dietitian by training, so am a good go-to person if you have eating and cooking questions. I love to source local foods/produce.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Food and cooking ideas, wellness activities and relationship coaching. Often a new seed planted can open up someone to a new, healthier approach to living.

Countries I’ve Visited

Belize, Canada, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, South Korea, Thailand

Countries I’ve Lived In

United States
