关于我
CURRENT MISSION
Learn and experience as much as I can during my short time on this planet, travel, eat amazing food, never stop giving, and convince as many people as I can to move to Pittsburgh.
ABOUT ME
Hi, I'm Sally. I'm 24, and still trying to figure out what it is that I want to do with my life. Right now I love where I live - in a quirky little neighborhood on top of a mountain called Mount Washington - have a growing group of Pittsburgh friends (who would love to meet you!) - and try and keep up with the growing number of bars, restaurants, venues, and performances happening in Pittsburgh. I love to take old and new friends alike to my favorite Thai restaurant, jazz venue, or museum, or spend the day hiking or biking through one of Pittsburgh's 90 neighborhoods. I love to volunteer, and may try you convince you to wake up early with me to plant some flowers, but am just as likely to sleep in and take you to my favorite pancake spot for Sunday brunch.
If you stay with me, you are guaranteed many long conversations about the history of Pittsburgh, what's new with local city government(where I work!), as well as national and international politics. That old phrase "don't talk about religion and politics at the dinner table" is thrown out the window in my home.

PHILOSOPHY
pay it forward. The energy you put into the world is what you will eventually get back from it.
Don't take anything personally because you never know what type of day a person is having.
Dancing makes everything better.
PLEASE NOTE
If you would like to stay with me, I have the following advice:
1. Don't spell Pittsburgh wrong in your initial request.
2. I host people to hang out and explore the city with new friends, if you're just looking for a cheap place to stay, this is not the couch for you.
3. If you don't have any references, or haven't bothered to fill out your profile, and can't bother to explain why you don't have any references, also not the couch for you.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I love to show off my fabulous city, so tours, drinks, and sharing good food is a must. I also live a couple of blocks away from the Duquesne Incline, one of the best views in the world...In my opinion anyway. It will probably be the first stop we make if I'm showing you around.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've had so many wonderful couchsurfing experiences. Recently, I was in Peru for an 11 day trip in May, and the whole trip was made infinitely better by our host in Lima. We would stay up late into the night talking to our host, drinking, and sharing stories. We'd forget how tired we were from our long days of traveling and exploring we were having so much fun! We had long lunches, ate the most amazing food, and learned so much about Peru from our wonderful host. It reminded me why I need more couchsurfers in my life! Hanging out with couchsurfers is like being on perpetual holiday!
兴趣
Local politics and urban planning, exploring thrift shops, food, friends, jazz, live music, theater, speaking Spanish, living in foreign countries for extended periods of time, hiking, swimming, boating, and having long intellectual conversations about the meaning of life, the current state of politics, the dependency theory, etc.
The reason I say I like living in other countries, rather than visiting, because my favorite part of traveling is meeting locals and experiencing how people live very day. Sure, monuments and museums are cool and all, but what really makes a trip are the people you meet and the human connections you make. You can visit the coolest place in the world and it will never compare to a trip where you meet fascinating people and get yourself into all sorts of trouble!

音乐、电影和书籍
-I love old music, my favorite singer of all time is Ella Fitzgerald, especially when she sings duets with Louis Armstrong. I also like Dinah Washington and Billie Holiday, The Rat Pack, the Temptations, Carole King, James Taylor, Simon and Garfunkel, Paul Simon, Billy Joel, Elton John, to name a few.
I also love musicals! I've been in a few and I just love the music! For example Fiddler on the Roof, anything by Andrew Lloyd Webber, Oklahoma, The sound of Music, Anything Goes, Hello Dolly, Spring Awakening, The Producers, Wicked, and Mamma Mia!
-I really like to read, although I rarely have time for it. I recently joined a book club called "Text and the City" - we read books about urban planning. Our first book was "The Death and Life of Great American Cities" by Jane Jacobs
Some of my favorites are I'm OK, You're OK (this book basically encompasses my philosophy on life), A thousand splendid suns, the phantom tollbooth, The giver, Their Eyes were watching God, Harry Potter (of course), and more!
我做过的一件不可思议的事情
Hiking to Machu Picchu!
Last summer I decided to cut all of my hair off and stop dying it. I have had long blonde hair my entire life, and everyone thought I was crazy. It was the best decision I ever made. I feel more like myself, and I can't remember what it was even like to have long hair. I don't think I'm ever going back.
Two summers ago I completely refinished the first floor of my house and my bedroom. It was tough but incredibly rewarding, and I can't wait to start on my next project.
Working for a Colombian in the European Parliament, and translating a letter that was published in over 15 newspapers in Latin America condemning the coup d'etat in Paraguay against President Lagos.
When I studied abroad in Germany, I hiked to this place called Roskopf in Freiburg, Germany, where there was a lookout with an absolutely incredible view and you got to see the windmills that overlook the city up close and personal. It took my friends and I almost three hours to hike there because we went without a map and only relied on asking people we ran into for directions, but we managed to hike back down in 45 minutes. It was a crazy adventure, and we weren't even sure what we were going to find when we reached the top! So the lookout tower made the long hike extra rewarding.
教,学,和分享
Since I've only been around for a short 24 years, I consider myself much more of a learner than a teacher. So I hope to learn something from you! However, if you ever wanted to know how to remove carpet, properly explore a neighborhood, cook a gluten free meal, or how to get a pothole patched, I'm your girl.
