ABOUT ME
I'm from the UK but am currently living in Cairo where I am studying arabic.
I used to work in politics in London but quit my job at the end of 2012 to go backpacking solo and haven't looked back since. I travelled for 8 months on my own and then decided I wasn't ready to go back to the UK just yet, so I moved to Cairo in September 2013 and have no plans to head back anytime soon.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm afraid I don't really have much space in my apartment but am happy to meet up and show you around should you come visit Cairo. I also surf from time to time.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Had my first experiences of coach surfing in Pakistan in April 2013, which were really positive.
Interests
Food (eating mainly, admittedly am not the best cook), finding new ahwas to smoke shisha in, attempting to learn Arabic, meeting new people from all walks of life, politics and Bollywood (especially the old classics)!

Music, Movies, and Books
Favourite books include - Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts, Small Island by Andrea Levy, A Case of Exploding Mangoes by Mohammad Hanif, Extreme Ramblings by Mark Thomas and The Places In Between by Rory Stewart
Movies - Breakfast at Tiffanies, Lord of the Rings, Casablanca and Slumdog Millionaire. I also unashamedly love my Bollywood especially older classics like Naseeb and Ram Lakhan.
Music - I don't have a particular taste, I listen to anything... and yes also Bollywood!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Travelling solo for 8 months! One of my real highlights on the trip was Pakistan. The people are fantastic and I travelled on the famous Karakoram Highway to the mountains in the north on a bus that took 25 hours and had no A/C. It was well worth it! Also fulfilled my Jungle Book fantasy by riding an elephant into the Mekong River in Laos to wash it. I paraglided over the Himalayas in Nepal and fulfilled my Bollywood fantasy there of riding on top of a bus.
