About Me
***Note***
My profile CLEARLY states I only speak English. Sending me a couch surfing request in any language other than English will promptly get your request deleted with no further response. I don't mean to sound like a jerk about it, but every day I receive several requests written in Spanish or who knows what other language and it is annoying. If you expect me to give you a free bed to sleep in, I expect you to READ MY PROFILE than contact me in the only language I speak. /end rant
CURRENT MISSION
Enjoy island lifestyle while working and diving in paradise. Immerse myself into new and exotic cultures.
ABOUT ME
Easy going and as laid back as a recliner. An American from Chicago who moved to the Caribbean to follow his passion of scuba diving. Then moved to Fiji for much of the same and currently living on the island of Cozumel, Mexico.
PHILOSOPHY
Enjoy everyday to its maximum.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I host travelers as they pass through my area. I offer 1-2 nights primarily, but longer stays can possibly be arranged after we meet.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Interesting and exciting. I've met some amazing people along the way and really appreciate having the opportunity to host.
Interests
I have worked as a freelance PADI/SSI Scuba Instructor around the globe. I currently own my on scuba dive center on Cozumel. My passion is to not only teach students the basics and beyond of scuba diving, but how to understand the environment and accelerate in locating the details of a reef. Divers will likely particularly enjoy surfing with me as it often gives them the chance to pick the brain of a scuba instructor for tips and funny stories.
Outside of diving my interests relate to new experiences. Seeing new sights. Meeting new people. Boating. Snowmobiling. Notre Dame football. Food. Ecletic beers and wines. Camping and camp fires. Grilling.

Music, Movies, and Books
Don't read many books - mostly magazines, journals, or blogs about the marine environment. I listen to most any type of music but raggae and jam bands dominate my choices. I maintain a connection to USA Pandora so it's often interesting listening to the preferred music channels my guests create. Action, drama, and comedies are my preferred movies to watch although I don't have as much time to watch movies as I'd like. I do maintain a USA Netflix account however, so although you likely didn't travel to Cozumel to watch movies it is a nice option on rainy days or end of the evenings.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Saved the life of a child, walked Tikal, attended the night game of ND v USC in South Bend, swim with dolphins and sharks regularly.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach scuba diving, from beginner to Divemaster. Am also a freelance author on marine fish and ecology and love talking marine science. Provided my other work is completed I can sit and chat scuba all night long. Or craft micro and import beers. Massive bonus points for anyone that gifts me beer from their home country/state - no stouts or porters please (yes I'm a picky bastard).
What I Can Share with Hosts
Let's see what have we covered so far... free queen size bed, wifi, scuba instruction or fun diving, story teller, tour guide, chauffeur, unparalleled movie and music selection. Isn't that enough? Okay how about free smiles. And maybe a hug if you've showered recently.
