About Me
Hi there! You can call me Salwa and I am a Malay-speaking Arab from Singapore (and of course, I speak English fluently too, haha.) I am currently on a student exchange program in Ankara, Turkey and I have been staying here for 4 months. Being an exchange student has been a really eye-opening and amazing experience for me, and I hope to continue learning a lot more about different cultures and people through travelling. Interestingly, I learn more about myself too while learning about others.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Since I am on exchange in Turkey, this is an opportunity for me to do some travelling around Europe and meet cool people from different areas. Couchsurfing is a great means for me to do so as I am on a student budget and this will allow me to save a lot from accommodation. Besides accommodation, meeting with hosts would would allow me to get a genuine local (rather than touristy) view on worthy places to visit and the history and culture of the country.
Interests
I love hiking and admiring nature - I am totally down for canyoning, watching sunrise and sunsets and the like.
I also love big cities, sightseeing, shopping and simply having great food - each is enough to make me happy :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Paragliding from the top of Babadag mountain near Oludeniz, Fethiye, Turkey. Unexpectedly, the experience was far from scary but very calming. It felt as though I was flying and the view of the blue lagoons and mountain below is beyond magnificent while in flight.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Whatever I know about Singapore since I have been living there since I was born. Also, sharing some funny stories on the experiences I have encountered as an exchange student in Turkey. I can cook some Singaporean cuisines too :)
