About Me

I'm passionate about education and the environment. I just graduated from Mathematics and Engineering at Queen's University, Canada. I've been fortunate enough to travel throughout my childhood and it's become a passion of mine. When I was 17 I travelled to the Arctic and saw just how vast and beautiful our world can be. I think being a responsible citizen means getting out there are learning what's in our backyard - and beyond!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

It's one thing to visit a country, but it means so much more to learn from its people. I think there's something incredibly valuable in meeting, learning from, and giving back to local communities wherever I travel.

Interests

One day I hope to travel into outer space! Until then, music, history and culture, math, government, and all forms of outdoor exploration are my passions. I love climbing mountains - my tallest peak is the active volcano Mt. Cotopaxi in Ecuador (5897m)

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Eric Clapton, Eminem, Weezer, Avicii, Sufjan Stevens, Iron Maiden, Chopin, and pretty much anything!
Movies: "Up in the Air" taught me it's important to stay connected with loved ones even as you travel the world.
Books: A Farewell to Arms, Cloud Atlas, A Fine Balance, The Lord of the Rings, Gorky Park, and any historical fiction I can get my hands on.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've come across a Jaguar, a Polar Bear, a Black Bear, a Lynx, a North Atlantic Right Whale, a Giant Tortoise, a Caribou, a Giant Otter, an Arapaima (largest freshwater fish), a White-tipped Shark, a Howler Monkey, a Green Sea Turtle, an Ocelot, and a Penguin - all in the wild, all less than 10m away.

It's exhilarating to look nature in the eye and have it look right back.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm a seasoned traveller with lots of stories to share. I'll pull my weight and make sure I leave things a little bit better than when I arrived. I love to play music - both the guitar and the piano. I'll happily be a running/hiking/walking buddy for anyone looking to get outdoors!

And maybe I can share a little bit about why I choose to study math and how it's beautiful all around the world.
