About Me

Im a 27 year old mature student at the University of Southampton studying for a masters in Electrical Engineering, ( just completing year 1 of 5). It is for this reason i am not able to host guests until the 10th of July when i move out of student halls and into a shared student house. Just to warn you my spelling is not the best so apologies if you have a hard time reading this.

I am a very social person and enjoy going out and seeing friends, i feel comfortable hanging around with most age ranges and people as long as they are open and tolerant people. I am a bisexual man so happy in almost all friendly households.

In my spare time i love to build and fix things, i have recently helped build a human powered submarine that i will be taking to the USA with a team from the university where we will be competing with teams from all over the world.

I am active in human rights and political campaigning in the UK for the Liberal Democrats, i have spoken at the party conference in front of about 600 people and put many many hours into promoting human rights and equal rights.

I love to travel as much as my bank lets me, although this ability has been reduced this past year as i have just gone into full time higher education. I have been to France many times as well as Germany (where i was born), Holland, Spain, Italy, Turkey, Grease, Switzerland, Canada (where i traveled round in a caravan with my parents for a year), Scotland, Wales, Nepal (where i spent a month rewiring a school and living with a family out there) and the USA where we spent a month of the Canada trip.

I love cooking and making new foods and drinks, i would love to eat and learning how to cook all new different food types. When i cook i tend to cook English adaptations of world foods, mainly curries, stir fries but not forgetting full English breakfasts and Sunday roast dinners.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

A friend recommended this to me as she had a very good experience of travelling around Europe with it during her Easter holidays from uni. I would love to get to know the people behind the place i am visiting as i have found it is almost always the people that make the place.
Once i am able to, host people, i would love to host from different cultures and places and showing them where i live. i will be living with 4 other students who cover a wide ranger of subjects who are teenage students.

Music, Movies, and Books

with regards to literature i have a love of for Bernard Cornwell, his sharp collection is a must read for any pirson into historic fiction. i also love Shogun by James Clavell having read it multiple times.

I tend to prefer acoustic or light rock music and some EDM. my current playlist has in it, Walk off the Earth, Laura Marling, Mumford and Sons, Pentatonix (seen them live), Linkin Park, The Temper Trap, Scissor Sisters, Papa Roach, Of Monsters and Men, Kings of Leon, Gorge Ezra, Gorillaz, Avicci, Daft Punk.

When i comes to movies i love most things other than horror films (as they are normally so bad there boring or so good i cant sleep), i use to live on a boat with no TV so i ended up with over 120 DVD's.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

rewired a school in Nepal for a not for profit charity. stayed over there with a family living with them eating there food and playing board games with the hole family. there was no power most the time so the teenage kids liked playing card games with everyone rather than being adsorbed by the TV, they took grate pleasure in how bad i was at Learning the language although i did try my best. i was there for a month and had an amassing if not hot experience. not only helping the community but also getting to know them, what they wanted from life and how they lived it.

Teach, Learn, Share

i have many qualifications including but not limited to, day yacht skipper, windsurf instructor, dingy sail instructor (lapsed now), plumber, electrician, scuba diver.

I have done many jobs including, silver service waiting, plumbing, water sports instructing, generator technician, electrician, gardener, farming (lambing), teaching assistant in a primary school.

I have no set plans of things i would like to learn, i tend to find that subjects jump out on me and take me by surprise, the more simple things i love to learn about are the cultures and ethos of the places i stay in be it the positive or negative aspects.

What I Can Share with Hosts

i would love to share any knowledge i can with hosts in both directions, i have only been hear 27 years but in that time i have experienced and done a lot of things. i would love to cook for and maybe be cooked different foods.
