About Me

I grew up in North Devon, England amongst many farms and fields. I went to college and studied outdoor pursuits for 3 years, becoming a qualified instructor in various outdoor sports. These sports became my trade and my passion; climbing, kayaking/canoeing, surfing, walking in the mountains and more. I spent a few years working as a seasonal instructor in Devon, Cornwall and Southern France. In my early 20''s I moved to Snowdonia, North Wales and spent nearly 5 years working as a support worker to troubled teenagers and engaging them in the outdoors. In my spare time I mostly climbed and enjoyed all kinds of different mountain activities. By night I liked to party with my pals, on the beach, in the woods, in a barn....

As a person I'd say I'm a calm and collected being, I don't often struggle to get on with people and I'm always up for a bit of banter. I don't like to say no, so I'm a fairly spontaneous adventurous type that likes to go where the adventure takes me.

Currently I'm on a working visa in Canada until June 2019, and I've pitched up in Canmore for the winter and for the skiing!

When I leave Canada I will have the choice of doing more travelling or going back to the real world and pursuing a few different career/business options. Not sure what I will do but both options are really exciting!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

As a host, I know where I am in Canmore is a well travelled place that often people struggle to find a place to stay. I like to help people out and have been a good host to many friends in past years. I think this will be a good way for me to make new friends in a new area too.

As a traveller, I've not yet couch surfed, however if I do .... well if you're reading this I can imagine you already know many of the good reasons to be on here as a traveller, we're all kindred spirits on this site I guess.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love all music really, but if I had to choose one genre it would be rock.

I've never been able to determine what my favourite film is.

I can't say I read often, but Ranulph Fiennes - "Mad, Bad, and dangerous to know" was a great read, dude's a hero!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Won the only rodeo ive ever competed in, in Spain, every other competitor was at least 3 times my age.

I was 8 years old.

The prize was a bottle of champagne. I think I would have been happier with a kinder egg.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm always happy to engage in outdoor activities with anyone keen to join me. Other than that I like to cook, watch movies, go to parties, sleep and more sleep.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I share most things, I'm not greedy.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, France, Germany, Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Thailand
