ABOUT ME
Have been living in Wales for some years now, and seem to have found my way home here. Landed first in Cardiff for university and since been drifting around the hills and valleys of south-west Wales, clumsily getting back to a life on the land. Favourite memories from Cardiff are of the regular communal feasts shared with friends and strangers at our house in Roath, cycling through the back-alleys, dancing at Gwdihw and watching the sunset from Black Weir Bridge, and not to forget watching Wales beat England 30 points to 3 in the 2013 Six Nations.
I practice Chan meditation, though with laughable inconsistence. Fortunately Chan retains some virtue for the vice ridden
I am interested in bioregional anarchy and re-inhabitation, the task of returning to an indigenous way of life. For me this means digging into the land and learning to grow food, tend livestock, build soils and care for the wild, as well as digging into the history of Wales, its landscapes, people and myths.
At the moment I am listening mostly to Welsh and Irish folk music, and industrial/noise. I play the bodhran and am hungry to find fellow musicians who enjoy playing bawdy archaic folk.
My most consistent and consuming interest is writing poems.
Working together in the field with a group of friends is one of the purest of human experiences, and watching the sun from underwater is a fine way to pass the time
PHILOSOPHY
"learn the flowers,
go light"- Gary Snyder
"asceticism is not as good as a bush"- Dafydd Ap Gwylym
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I previously hosted with my housemates in Cardiff, however am itinerant now so have no doors to open. We liked to keep our house as open as possible (we had around 50 people come and go over one particularly fecund summer) and would encourage others to do the same; it makes for good living all round.
