About Me
Oh hello there! I'm Sam, a 22 year-old from England and I'm just your everyday, normal guy with a (questionable) sense of humour. I grew up in the countryside of Nottingham (near where Robin Hood lived!). I have recently finished my Bachelor's degree and am looking to travel to broaden my cultural understandings of the world whilst hopefully meeting some remarkable people with their stories to share in some breath-taking countries. I am curious and open-minded and enjoy meeting new people whilst experiencing new different things. Maybe you can be the next person I share this with!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm on Couchsurfing to meet new people and discover the world at the reasonable price of sharing my stories and listening to those of others (and also it helps that it's cheaper than hotels!). I've heard loads of positive stories about people's experiences with Couchsurfing and of the underreported kind nature of the hosts.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Managed to understand an Italian priest using Spanish as an English native. With my brother, we visited the San Bernadino in Milan, a small church near the Duomo that is famous for its chapel decorated with skulls and bones - in there, the priest spoke only Italian. I could speak beginner level Spanish - (my brother only knows English)- which is somewhat similar to Italian. So, I tried to talk to the priest in Spanish to try and better understand the story behind this church. After about 15 minutes of just about managing to understand the priest's Italian as he managed to (miraculously) understand my questions in Spanish, to which I translated the information into English for my brother, we left this fascinating church learning that the skulls and bones had been there since the 1200s because the nearby cemetery was overflowing. We also learned that we could both do with a pair of glasses each because all the information the priest shared with us was on a sheet of paper, in English, by the entrance which we had both failed to notice on our way in.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you how to do the rubix cube or just a few jokes in English (in return for a few where you're from)
What I Can Share with Hosts
I hope to share cultural understandings of my home with the host as well as creating interesting stories with such generous people. Also, will naturally help contributing to the household that you have kindly offered to have us - by cooking food, cleaning up or even walking the dog!
