Overview
About Me
About to embark on my first real bit of international travel, I live in Alaska and spend my time in small towns and outdoors for the most part. I love history though and I'm really excited to see stuff older than 100 years. I'm a medium sized guy with the ability to sleep through a lot of light and a lot of noise. Not a smoker and not a big drinker.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I want to travel to experience where I'm going not just pass through. I'm hoping that by staying with people I can learn more, meet more people, see more stuff than I would otherwise.
Interests
I love basically anything involving mountains, I teach skiing in the winter and love to camp and hike when I can't ski. I'm generally a pretty quiet person I read quite a bit.
Music, Movies, and Books
I read a lot of science fiction and fantasy, I love David Weber and Robert Jordan, Tolkien, Orson Scott Card, and Dan Simmons. I read stories for the world's and the characters some really good stuff and some that's not great but still really enjoyable. Dresden files is another favorite.
I'm not a big movie or TV watcher, often don't have TV. But I enjoy stuff like Bob's Burgers. Bridge of spies was the best movie I've seen recently.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I used to live on the north rim of the grand canyon and if you ever get the opportunity to hike from one rim to the other it's absolutely awe inspiring. The hike is grueling, 24 miles with massive elevation changes but spectacular scenery and you go through a whole bunch of different biomes and you go up and down. You get to see thousands of years of erosion and layers or rock. You also get to sleep the sleep of the dead when you finish.
Teach, Learn, Share
I have no idea what I'm actually supposed to put here but im a ski instructor and a tour guide in Skagway Alaska so if you want to know things about the Klondike goldrush or skiing I've got you covered.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can tell you about living in Alaska and how 1000 miles isn't that far. I'm a passable cook although what I know how to cook tends to be a bit eclectic (I can bake some awesome bagels though).
Mostly though I think I'm just wierd enough to be interesting while being normal enough to be comfortable.
