ABOUT ME

We are two young professionals living on the outskirts of Boston, MA. We are easy going and enjoy new adventures and activities. Between us we have a passion for travel, photography, football (American), snowboarding, reading, and anything that will allow us to take advantage of the sunshine.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We have hosted a few times at our place in Boston, as well as surfed through Canada. We have decided to move to Australia semi-permanently, and on the way over are travelling through parts of Europe, Middle East, and India! We are excited to incorporate CouchSurfing as much as we can into our travels, as we have found that international experiences are far richer when through the eyes and wisdom of the locals.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Our CouchSurfing experience has been extremely positive. We have enjoyed hosting visitors from far away places like Australia and Greece. We thoroughly enjoyed hosting, not only because we love meeting people, but because as travelers ourselves we appreciate the comforts of a nice bed, running hot water and recommendations from locals. Our first experience surfing was through a mini-roadtrip through eastern Canada, and found our hosts beyond amazing! We were thoroughly impressed and touched by the hospitality and generosity of everyone who invited us into their home.

Interests

Adventurous spirit with a love of travel! Sam caught the travel bug in college while studying abroad in Scotland and has been obsessed with travelling and exploring the world ever since. Ever since meeting four years ago, Sam has dragged Eric to various foreign countries, and now they both share a love of exploration. Together we are excited to discover new places, experience new cultures and meet new people. Life it too short to stay any one place too long!

Music, Movies, and Books

Sam: loves country music and non-fiction books and movies. A self proclaimed nerd, she enjoys current events, economics, sociology and politics. Plus she loves people watching, local history, and discovering local events and traditions while travelling.

Eric: loves any and all things related to sports. Huge basketball and American football fan who rarely misses a game and has an astonishing wealth of sports of knowledge. A true "man's man" he loves beer, good food, action movies, music (rock, heavy-metal and hip-hop) and video games.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- Interned with a non-profit organization in southern Thailand where we worked directly with the local rural community to develop a sustainable tourism program- never met more beautiful and gracious people!
- Worked in a bar while studying abroad in Glasgow Scotland, where I learned to appreciate the genuineness and sharp wit of the Glaswegian people.
- Stood in awe in the sacred wonders of Angor Wat while backpacking Cambodia.
- Hiked to the top of an active volcano in Guatemala and stood inches away from the red flowing lava.
- Went spelunking in Puerto Rico and explored miles of the silent and secret underground cave world.
