About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To taste (and make) food, beer and dessert from everywhere on the planet.

ABOUT ME

I'm Sam. Early twenties, a little restless, and on a mission to find something. I'm not entirely sure what or where it is, but I'll know when I find it.

I lived my early childhood in Bogor, Indonesia (parents were Australian expats). Most of my life has been spent in Townsville, Queensland, but the last few years have been in the beautiful and exciting city of Brisbane.

I'm currently on a backpacking trip. I spent six weeks in Asia, before moving on to Europe, where I am at the moment.

PHILOSOPHY

I'm a causal hard determinist. This doesn't mean I don't believe in free will - I just believe in physics. All the macro stuff is so complicated that determinism is pretty much irrelevant anyway.

I trust and forgive easily. I like to assume the best in people. I'm naturally shy, but travel is slowly bringing out my hidden extrovert.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm currently looking for interesting locals to stay with for a day or two on my journey across the width of Europe.

I want to cook for you, and learn from you.

When I get home to Brisbane, I'm looking forward to hosting.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So far my only CouchSurfing experience has been meeting CouchSurfers (outside of CS) on my backpacking travels. I'm hoping to change that!

Interests

Cooking, reading, travel, theatre, performing, recording, live music, vinyl, modern philosophy, jazz, mixology, artificial languages, minimalist design, cryptography, photography, haiku.

Teach, Learn, Share

I really love to cook for friends, and half of my reason for travel is to learn about foriegn cuisine. Cooking is something that I feel everyone is able to teach and learn from.

I'm also an experienced Linux system admin, so I'm usually pretty good at diagnosing and solving network and general computer problems.
