关于我

I'm a recent graduate of CU Boulder who's trying to put off starting real life with a month long road trip.

我为什么加入 Couchsurfing

My friend Amirah and I are embarking on an epic road trip up the Northwest coast, and we'd really like to meet new people along the way. Couchsurfing seems like the best way to actually meet people, instead of just passing through different locations. Our trajectory takes us from Boulder, CO --> Salt Lake City, UT --> San Francisco, CA --> Portland, OR --> Seattle, WA --> Vancouver, BC --> Glacier National Park, MT --> Yellowstone National Park, WY --> Home Sweet Boulder. We have a pretty roughly planned trip, and we're hoping to meet seasoned travelers who can point us in toward some memorable places.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

I went to Cuba on a study abroad trip, and learned about their revolution and the Cuban Missile Crisis from their perspective, which was fascinating. Havana is a beautiful city, very crumbly but so lively and storied. They have the friendliest stray dogs I've ever encountered, people selling hand-crocheted garments and old coins on street corners, and so much fascinating history. There's still hostility toward the US, but also genuine desire for reconciliation. I met med students and artists and historians and diplomats. Cuba is a more nuanced story than people think.

教,学,和分享

I don't even know where to begin with this category. I love learning about most topics-- if you have a genuine interest in something, I find it so easy to listen and be interested too. I've taken several pedagogy (read: study of education) classes, and I think I'd ultimately like to be a teacher. In what I don't know. I have a huge passion for history, but most of my formal education is in biochemistry and cell biology. Mostly I just love to have deep discussions with people, juggling the different levels of engagement in different topics, which all exist in this crazy world at once. Teach me something; I promise you'll learn something too :)

I love to cook, and will definitely make you a meal while I'm staying with you. I used to work at a cooking school, so if you need some knife skills tutoring (practically everyone needs to brush up on how to cut an onion) or a lecture on how meringues work, I'm your girl. I'll also have an impractical number of knitting supplies on me; if you've ever wanted to learn the dark arts of fiber craft, I'll bring some extra needles and thrift store yarn.
