Overview
About Me
Hey ya'll, I'm Sami. I'm Italian and Native American, so I have a nice mesh of feisty and down-to-earth. I grew up in a bar in Berkeley with my seven siblings, so i've seen some things. I live on the beach in Los Angeles, and I spend my days trying to make this big city a little more just and compassionate.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Travel is my biggest love, and it's always better with new friends.
Interests
I enjoy late night conversations, discovering new places to play, Giants Baseball, singing along to country music, trying new craft beer, playing with my tiny terrier Maggie, and making every experience as silly as possible.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love all types of music, but if you want to get me dancing, you'll put on a country song. I'm a bit of a history buff, so non-fiction and biographies have always interested me (how lame, I know). I haven't had much time to watch movies these last few years, so I mostly love the classics: Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory has been my favorite movie since I can remember (the original though, not the weird one with Johnny Depp).
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I moved to East Africa to teach English and HIV prevention in the public schools. I lived in a little village called Michamvi Kae, where I learned Swahili and carried water buckets on my head. After I got over malaria, I climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro and went skinny-dipping in the Nile River. It was all pretty wild, and it was perfect.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I hope to share my finely-tuned cooking skills and some interesting stories. Even though I may be the one who needs a tour guide, i'd love to help you discover a few new places in your own city.
