Sobre Mim

CURRENT MISSION

To try and not stand in my own way as I let my life unfurl before me. To stop thinking in "have-tos" and to enjoy life, share experiences and love, and celebrate life's great gifts and mysteries!

ABOUT ME

Wildflowers, excellent cheese, and crusty sourdough bread are all magical in my eyes. I love to converse, to visit art galleries, used book stores, poetry readings, to lay in the grass for hours, to climb trees, and to attend symphonies and salsa clubs (I'm not very good but am trying to learn!). I like late nights, old versus new, and often I choose the long route to do a thing because I often enjoy the process more than the product (ie shelling peas, making jelly, making my own toothpaste, getting lost...). I can never get enough horseradish, raw oysters, blue cheese, smoked fish, or steamed kale. I love new ideas, am absolutely dedicated to my dreams, and respect and get along with driven people passionate about their purposes in life. I truly cherish concern for others, simplicity, and the ability to be outrageously silly when the moment calls for it. I am believer that pushing yourself beyond your comfort zone makes has the opportunity to make you a better and more vast person; I believe that travel can unite the world and the worlds within ourselves; however, I also believe that the beauty of life is mostly internal (how we give and receive pain & love) and I love to stay in one place, know every plant around me, forage and hike every day as much as I love to travel and see amazing new places and meet unbelievable people.

PHILOSOPHY

I believe in moral relativity, however, I do have values which I hold dear. I believe that there are unlimited paths to the same destination and that people have the absolute right to believe what they want to believe and that supporting each other's differences is the secret to joy and togetherness. That being said, there is a time for everything. A time for peace and even a time for war. And part of our job is to find what each moment calls for and to embrace it and let it break us in order to make us who we are. Sometimes to forget who you are is to find who you really are. (so many cliches here)

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Have not hosted yet since I've been traveling so much, but I have used CS in Holland, Italy, America, Switzerland, and hopefully many other places. I have met some of the most incredibly loving and sharing people through CS and most of the time, we meet on farms, in cities, at language exchanges, at parties. It's a community for me more than it is a place to stay.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Great. Mostly meeting others through CS parties, language exchanges, day-trips, meet-ups, and a few couches.

Músicas, Filmes e Livros

Tough one. Anything Tolstoy. Steinbeck, Proust. Any poetry by:
Whitman
Dickinson
Sherman Alexie
e.e.cummings
Lord Byron
WS Merwin
Carl Sandburg

Poetry is my window into other lives. I couldn't live without it.

Uma Coisa Incrível que Eu Fiz

I love the feeling of being simultaneously humbled and freed by nature. I remember one of the most impactful recent experiences of my life being midnight nude yoga done in July done on a huge rock shelf jutting over a swimming hole in the mountains of New York for hours while the sky spat down ice cold rain over me, thunder and lightning ringing overhead. It was quite a challenge not to be afraid but once I let go and melted into the moment, I felt so protected and free, it was one of the absolute best and simplest moments of my life.

Ensine, Aprenda, Compartilhe

Those who are open and ready are the best teachers and students. We're all a mix, I am a mix, and I just try to remember to let go of what I want and accept what the moment gives.
