About Me

I'm a PhD student in theoretical computer science, and I spend my work days thinking about mathematics and scribbling on coffee-stained paper. I balance my mental labor with physical recreation: be it climbing, running, lifting weights, cycling or trying new movements. While traveling, I love to wander.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Sitting at home during Covid-19 made me viscerally aware of my need for human connection, of how technology and life in the modern world both hinders and facilitates this connection.
Now that society is returning to normal, I want to dive back into the world of travel, both as a traveler and as a host.

Music, Movies, and Books

While I have my musical niche of metal (mainly black and progressive), I am open minded towards new music - I listen to one album recommendation from everyone!
My reading level has gone down a few levels recently as I have switched from English to Dutch books. I have been reading children's books and novels.
I'm not a fan of movies or television shows, and I'd much rather listen to podcasts. I'm currently listening to the MMT Podcast, lingthusiasm, odd lots, Joe Rogan and datevermaak.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Although it amazes me that someone is paying me to do research, I am most proud of having inspired many loved ones to enact positive lifestyle changes.

Teach, Learn, Share

As you can see, I am a newcomer to couch surfing. I don't have any experience hosting new people in my tiny studio apartment, but I am a good companion to discover Amsterdam with. I wish to learn about people's travel (and couchsurfing) experiences, and to share my own view on life.

I absolutely love cooking. When I'm cooking for myself, I love to experiment, hardly making the same dish the same way twice. When I'm cooking for others, I love the look of satisfaction on their faces. With my guests I want to share my cuisine and learn yours.
I am in fact a vegetarian, and my culinary curiosity is limited only by that - I'll eat anything that *doesn't* walk.
In case you stumble into my apartment, just know that no meat or fish is allowed here!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm a low maintenance guest who can equally well entertain himself and you. I will gladly cook for you! I love sharing my (vegetarian) cuisine with the world and experimenting with local ingredients.
