About Me

Hello, fellow travelers and all our wonderful hosts on in the online community. I am Sambath aka Sam, currently living in Spain and planning to travel to a few places in and nearby the country. I love traveling so much that I also have my own travel blog and travel vlog. The links to my channel and blog are can be found below.

Anyways, I really love immersing in the cultures of the places I visit, so be hosted is the best way, I believe. Having traveled to many places also opens up my heart to see the world in a very positive way, for I have met so many great travelers which share the same passion, love, and mutual interests on so many things. The most important thing is that we expand our hearts and accept many more things into our minds. Even better, we share a lot of beautiful life stories in a way that we get so touched and moved every time we exchange the stories. And most of the times I travel, I bring with me the postcards from my birth country: Cambodia to share and sometimes exchange with people I meet, because I love collecting things, so I think that adding something to others' collection is also a meaningful way in life.

I hope I get to know more people in different places from all different backgrounds. I would love to be connected with all the beautiful travels and hosts out there with very generous hearts. Thank you all so much, big hugs.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

One of the main reasons is to immerse in the culture. I have a strong belief that visiting one country is not merely going to see monuments, but there are so much more to it. We should experience the lifestyle of the local, get to know them more, talk to strangers, ask about this and that, try speaking some basic words in their own language, and the best way to be able to experience most of this is to be on Couchsurfing.

Plus, being on couch surfing allows us to realize how cynical we are to other people until we get to see in real life before own eyes how kind they truly are and how deep their hearts are, that is when the true connections occurs and life starts to accumulate meanings along the way.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love music of most genres, but I have the strongest love on the romantic and life songs. Because it always remind me of my memories and get me so nostalgic.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

There are many things I have done. But mostly I have considered them ordinary.

Though, if there is one amazing thing that I have ever done in my life is QUITTING my job to VOLUNTEER my time for communities which is not so long ago.

Teach, Learn, Share

Throughout my life of 22 years, I have had an amazing experience of being a teacher of around 14 months. I have taught Chinese before but as a tutor, then I became a teacher of English afterwards. I have felt the love and deep human connections between us teacher and students. We share so many things and learn many things to and from each other.

But rather than that, I have also volunteered most of my university life to teaching marginalized kids at various communities in my country. It was such an amazing experience to have been with them and share my knowledge with them, also, I learnt to be very more patient and calm when being with them(hehe) so I am pretty thankful to them for teaching me some powerful life skills too.

Teaching aside, I love sharing my experience and cultures with all the people I meet when traveling, and I am always thrilled to see the eyes opening and our smiles and laughters cracked. This is one of the best ways to get aware of each others' culture and diversity. Very dynamic, I would say.
