About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Toe the line - any and all of them

ABOUT ME

I'm very adaptable. I enjoy the challenge of tension between two opposing world-views and I'm pretty amenable to changing mine. On the outside, I'm pretty boisterous and friendly, though often it takes an introduction for me to feel comfortable approaching someone random at a party or bar. Dark and serious things are where I find a lot of my humor.

PHILOSOPHY

Until college I was almost purely an optimist. I thought that bad things didn't have to be thought about because they weren't "useful". The point was to be happy as much as possible,

But as an adult, I've awoken to the beauty of chaos and absurdity. I'm still a cheery and optimistic guy, though. The balance has really let me enjoy bad things and understand the beauty in discontent and the growth that can come from failure. Balance is really what's important - the totality and duality in everything.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Mostly surfing, though I've hosted a couple folks when I can convince my house mates its ok to have strangers in our house

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Surfing through stockholm. Meeting up with others travellers throughout Dalmatia in Croatia, as well as camping and surfing with people there. Ireland, Detroit, Durham.

Interests

Roasting veggies, improvising (both on stage and in the kitchen), obscure and useless talents, kayaking, games (Set, banangrams, fax machine, you name it), Dr Seuss.

Nature, especially bodies of water. Being cooped up inside is the worst. In cities, though, I also like the exploration of the urban jungle. I love finding a neighborhood with a lot of character and history and shops and restaurants, and then just aimlessly wandering.

Music, Movies, and Books

stylized shit. whatever that means.

i like r&b, hip hop, psychadelia, classic rock, freak folk, and I guess you'd call it indie rock but that's a horrible category.

movies: I like the coen bros and wes anderson and werner herzog and pixar. musicals and cartoons and frenetic killing fiascoes. lucky number slevin. the fall. 5000 fingers of dr t.

a bunch of books too, less easy to sum that up.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Sitting atop the Golan Heights in Israel overlooking Syria, sun-bathing and listening to the Zadar sea organ sing me to sleep as the ferries rolled by in Croatia, eating tunnbrodsrulle on the tunnelbana in Stockholm incapable of eating more mashed potatoes without uncontrollable giggling.

Teach, Learn, Share

I pick things up fast, but i love teaching people how to make and play games. I'm always looking for the right "move" in every situation and I wanna talk about others' theories for the best finishing moves.

Countries I’ve Visited

Costa Rica, Croatia, Germany, Iceland, Israel, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Mexico, Philippines, Sweden, Thailand

Countries I’ve Lived In

United States
