About Me

CURRENT MISSION

exploring the fantastic and savage possibilities of life in this country

ABOUT ME

I've been described by friends as charismatically weird. I like to use slang from the 60s unironically. I love local fast food.

I'm a photographer, which is sort of important to mention, since if you meet me it's probably because I'm in your corner of the world to photograph things.

Recently, realizing that we're all living in what will undoubtedly be remembered as one of the most savagely weird decades in human history, and wanting a piece of that action, I've decided to undertake a broad project to document life in this strange era.

If this makes sense to you, or at least sounds interesting, then we should talk.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm new to this, so I really don't have an answer. I hope I'm able to participate as I become more involved, just as soon as I figure out how.

Music, Movies, and Books

Film: Apocalypse Now, Two-Lane Blacktop, The Life Aquatic, Fat City, the Royal Tenenbaums.

Musicians: Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, The Decemberists, The Black Angels, American Analog Set, Old 97s, the Penthouse Sweets, Godspeed You Black Emperor, Sleep Station

Books: Anything by Nelson Algren or Hunter S. Thompson (especially his essays/news columns).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Sleeping on the floor of the Wisconsin State Capital was as amazing as it was surreal.

Teach, Learn, Share

Probably the most useful skill I have to offer members of this site is specialized local knowledge of the city of Chicago. If you're going to be in the area, even if we can't hang out, I can still help you find what you're looking for, even if you don't know from the outset what that is.
