I was born and brought up in Pakistan and pursued my higher education at McGill University in Montreal, Canada where I studied history. Now I am back in Karachi, Pakistan working for an NGO called the Citizens Archive of Pakistan. I live with my family (my parents and my sister) and like to explore the places I'm in. Always looking for new people to do this with.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on couchsurfing because it's a really cool way to travel, meet new people, and get an insider's view on a place. I think it's a great venture that has changed the ways in which we travel and meet new interesting people. Want to show people my home town, Karachi!

Interests

My interests are history, film, philosophy, religion, art, culture, literature, sports, travel, and politics. I like playing tennis, cricket, and squash and love discussions on the topics mentioned above.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like many different kinds of music. Some of my favourite DJs are Damian Lazarus, Nicolas Jaar, Max Cooper, and Four Tet. I also like music in other genres, Fela Kuti and Ray Charles being two of my all time favourites. Pakistani music I really enjoy are Sufi varieties like Abida Parveen and Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. My favourite directors are Satyajit Ray, Ingmar Bergman, and Paul Thomas Anderson. Some of their movies I really enjoyed are Goopy Gyne Bagha Byne, Magnolia, The Seventh Seal, among others. I also really like movies with Gabriel Garcia Bernal Amores Perros. I also really enjoy the movies of Stanley Kubrick (Dr. Strangelove, A Clockwork Orange) and Wes Anderson (Rushmore, Moonrise Kingdom). Mostly watch English movies but I also love indulging in foreign language cinema. I like to read literature from all over the world, some of my favourite writers are writers of magical realism such as Salman Rushdie(Midnight's Children, Haroun and the Sea of Stories) and Jorge Luis Borges. Other books I've really enjoyed are The Outsider by Albert Camus, Moth Smoke by Mohsin Hamid, and Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance by Robert Pirsig.

Took a swing off a cliff after a hike in the amazon. The adrenaline was crazy.
