About Me

I am currently working full time as a Trainee Reconstructive Scientist for the NHS and doing a part-time MSc degree in the area. I've never had the time or money to go travelling properly and one day hope to travel to new and exciting places. Those with different cuisines in comparison to what I'm used to interest me most as I have a keen interest in cooking and baking.

PHILOSOPHY

What sunshine is to flowers, smiles are to humanity.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I haven't lived in Cheltenham very long so I'm always keen to meet-up for a chat/drink to meet new people.

Interests

When I'm not at University or work, I'm usually cooking, reading or having a drink or two.
I'm trying to get back into drawing as it was one of my favourite pastimes when I was younger but as I'v gotten older, I seem to have lost my creativity and muse.
Languages have always fascinated me and I am in the process of learning Arabic (in my limited free time) to add to my list. I love languages and when I was younger, was taught to read Arabic fluently however not to speak and understand the language, which is why I have now taken it upon myself to not let the talent (if you could call it that) of being able to read Arabic go to waste and learn the language properly!
Some may call me annoying because of the little things such as uncleanliness/messiness that annoy me. But it does mean I spent a lot of my time re-arranging/organising things or just plenty cleaning so you can definitely expect my couch to be spotless!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I did Geography at A-Level and in my 2nd year we were lucky enough to go on a trip to Morocco which included staying in Marrakech for a couple nights and spending the rest of the week hiking in the Atlas Mountains. It was definitely a once in a lifetime experience. I had never hiked before and didn't understand the preparation and hard work it involved such as the right walking boots, layering clothing etc. Whilst on the hike one day, we passed a tiny village. We had been hiking for about 7 hours and I was knackered, cold, sore knees and feet and whilst walking came across a group of children playing football. BARE FOOT. Hardly clothed sufficiently. And there I was complaining about sore feet and being cold. I stuck it out.

I don't know if I could call this second experience amazing exactly, it's somewhat changed me as a person in that I'M EVEN MORE TERRIFIED OF WATER THAN BEFORE. On holiday in Tunisia with my mother, auntie and cousin, we decided to on one of those blow up sofa floats that get pulled around the ocean with a boat. Bearing in mind I can't swim, at all, I was scared to start with even though we were all wearing life jackets. The sofa only had 2 handles either side of you to hold on to. As we were getting pulled around it was fine until my cousin told the guy to faster and as he did, the sofa was flying this way and that and I couldn't hold on any longer. All I remember is holding on telling him to stop and the next second I was in the water. If I didn't have the life jacket on, I'd have drowned. Ever since then I've been even more scared of water.

Update (07/15): I recently conquered my fear of swimming pools and learnt to swim in 2 weeks with the assistance of my boyfriend and his family whilst on a family holiday in Italy!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you to cook/bake! Always open to learn new recipes or cooking tips. I'd love to learn any other language too, whether it's a new sentence, a few words or how to count from 1-10.
I can also explain how I'd reconstruct your face (or body) after a traumatic accident and have various contraptions lying around the house which often become a topic of conversation...
