Overview
About Me
Hey y'all, I'm Sam! Im a born and raised Texan, but I've always felt called to people and places beyond the Lone Star State. I'm recently graduated from the University of Texas at Austin, where I studied economics and geography. In my time at UT, I've lived in the student housing co-operatives. Living in the student co-ops exposed me to the wonders of shared and communal living! Unfortunately, because I live in a shared living situation, taking on guests is not an option for me at this time. HOWEVER -- I'm going to propose that we make our ample couches available to couchsurfing at our next House meeting in January! Wish me luck!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Just like any other person on a budget, I'm looking to have fun and make memories on the cheap! Couchsurfing presents an ideal configuration, promoting all at once making new friends, novel experiences and affordable lodging. The appeal of an international community bonded by a strong sense of camaraderie and shared experience is undeniable!
Interests
Hugely into music -- supporting my local scene, writing, jamming, listening, going to shows, writing about it. I play guitar for an Austin band called Boys Club!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I went on a month long road trip this past summer and covered a lot of places (including a good number I'd never been to before) -- Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Grand Canyon NP, Las Vegas, Red Rocks, Joshua Tree, Los Angeles, PCH, Big Sur, Monterey, Santa Cruz, San Francisco, Tahoe National Forest, Lake Tahoe, Reno, Salt Lake City, Denver (unfortunately had to rush a bit at the end -- next time!!). It was my first large-scale trip and I made it happen for under 1700 dollars! This included a great deal more good quality food (and a little gambling) than is necessary. Looking forward to my next opportunity to get out there :D
Teach, Learn, Share
I actually taught microeconomics and statistics for a year and a half as a student instructor at UT!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can cook and clean anything and everything!! One of my favorite aspects of cooperative housing was my cooking labor, where I learned to cook for 20 people, on deadline, every week. My specialty is homemade pizza :D I will make you something TASTY.
Also, always down to sing some songs and slang some quality Texas beers.
